This week, I take a very brief look into why Legal Operations is an important part of any legal department and understanding what key metrics to create.
What you need to be looking for in terms of outcomes are the following with any Legal Operations project:
Focus and magnify legal operations efforts on impact activities and create metrics that demonstrate the legal function’s value to the business. In truth, its rather simple, you cannot effectively change or improve what you cannot measure. Some examples of key metrics to create:Cost-Effectiveness: Optimizing Department Spend, Staff Productivity: Optimizing Department Time, Money and Resources,Matter Statistics: Throughput & Disposition
Ultimately, you cannot make informed business decisions without understanding the internal processes, workflows, mapping your systems,etc
