Beyond Data: Meet Igor, Our Head of Analysis with a Rock & Roll Soul
When you think of a Head of Analysis, you probably picture someone buried in numbers, decoding trends, and making sense of complex datasets. And while Igor Milovcic certainly does all that (and more) at Casumo, there’s a whole other side to him—one that involves vintage recording equipment, classic rock vibes, and a garage filled with old Mercedes-Benz parts! We sat down with Igor to talk about his hidden talents, unique hobbies, and the surprising parallels between restoring classic cars, making music, and leading analytics at Casumo.?
Spoiler: it’s all about precision, creativity, and knowing how to fix things when they break.
From Data to Decibels: A Passion for Music
Turns out, Igor doesn’t just analyse numbers—he also composes and records music. He’s been at it since he was ten, playing in bands, collecting rare instruments, and even running a recording studio with his friends. But this isn’t just any studio. Igor and his crew have replicated the vintage recording process from the 1960s, using analog tape and old-school equipment to recreate that classic sound.
And it’s not just for fun—his music has actually won awards. One of his compositions, recorded with a Croatian jazz artist, made it to the Hollywood Independent Music Awards, where it went up against 8,000 other entries. The result? A win! That’s right—Igor, our very own Head of Analysis, has an award-winning song that could someday land in a film or Netflix series.
“It was a huge effort because finding and restoring vintage equipment is incredibly difficult. Many of the people who originally built or maintained these machines aren’t around anymore, so you have to figure things out yourself,” he explains.
Restoring Classic Cars: A Different Kind of Puzzle
When he’s not busy with music (or, you know, leading analytics at Casumo), Igor can usually be found restoring classic Mercedes-Benz cars. He always has at least one in his garage, meticulously bringing it back to life piece by piece.
“At the end of a long day, I need something tangible—something I can actually hold and say, ‘I built this.” That’s the main reason he loves it. Unlike data, which is constantly evolving, a restored car is a finished product. The process, however, is anything but simple.
Sourcing original parts from all over the world, organising every step of the restoration, and keeping everything on track—it all requires serious project management skills. And that’s where his analytics mindset kicks in.
“Funny enough, I started using a private Jira board to track my car restoration. I realised I had too many things happening at once and needed to organise it like a proper project. I basically built a workflow just like we do at Casumo, and it made everything so much smoother.”
The result? A beautifully restored car, ready for a drive on a perfect weekend.

The Unexpected Link Between Music, Cars, and Data
At first glance, music, cars, and analytics seem like completely separate worlds. But according to Igor, they share a surprising connection:
“Music is all about structure and creativity, just like data analysis. You can’t just throw notes together and hope for the best. There’s a method, a process, and an outcome. Car restoration is about problem-solving and precision. When something doesn’t work, you have to troubleshoot, experiment, and find a fix—much like handling complex data issues. Analytics is a combination of both. There’s a structured framework, but it also requires creativity to interpret data in new ways and find solutions that others might not see. All of these things are about organising chaos and making something great out of it.”
And Finally… What Would Casumo Sound Like?
We couldn’t wrap up the conversation without asking Igor what kind of music would best represent Casumo. His answer?
“Definitely ‘70s glitter disco. There’s energy, color, and a little bit of controlled chaos—just like Casumo.”
We’d say that’s a perfect match.
A huge thanks to Igor for letting us peek into his world beyond data. Award-winning musician, vintage car restorer, and analytics mastermind… Now there’s a combo we didn’t quite see coming!
