1 å¹´A good analysis. In fact now the most of the kirana items are packaged and branded, hence it does not matter where from you buy. Recall my childhood say around mid sixties going for monthly Kirana used to be an event. Having the list in hand, each item selection with Q & rate, the order was generated. thereafter it was handed over to boys who would weigh and pack it in brown paper cartoons or packets. We had to wait for this process to be over so usually went for other shopping. then, come back and collect. items were identified as dubhraj chawal ( rice) or Malwa sharbati gehu ( wheat) or tur daal unpolished from Yeotmal .. Regrettably we do not get those Q items I think growing is mere convenience to order from home and when ever want it ( not making a list) . I saw one model growing at Pune, where the whole colony block has a store. You can order from home, which is delivered in 10 to 30 minutes and pay using apps. I think it sandwich model of the two, which works more so on personalized trust
