Beyond the Boundaries of Your Beliefs….
Our beliefs might seem like an unusual topic to explore because we usually assume that we’re referring to our religious or spiritual convictions. But our beliefs extend to every aspect of our lives. In fact, the way we see the world is far removed from an objective representation of reality. Does that surprise you? It would be more accurate to describe it as an extension of our beliefs and that’s an insight into human perception that opens up a very broad area for exploration. Perhaps we should ask ourselves what we might be missing because of the limitations of our perception. The answers could be very relevant to your health, your happiness, your success and sense of personal fulfilment.
Whatever the nature of your beliefs, what you believe represents the familiar world you interact with every moment of your waking life. It also marks the boundaries of what you’re capable of understanding. What lies beyond the frontier of your beliefs tends to remain undetected. It has little relevance to your worldview and it’s easier for us to ignore the risk of encountering possible contradictions to our grasp of reality. We much prefer the familiar to the unknown. It’s just a product of our evolutionary heritage.
However, if you take a moment to ask yourself if your life is delivering the important elements that would contribute to a happier, healthier and more fulfilling way of experiencing each day, you might discover areas that would benefit from a little adjustment. Yes, it’s generally easier to change your environment and make your world more comfortable. But the more interesting challenge is to adjust your beliefs, to identify areas where your mental and emotional frameworks are interfering in your ability to appreciate life on a fuller, more balanced and satisfying scale. When you adjust the boundaries to your belief systems, you open your life to fresh, new opportunities for growth and development. You step beyond the old habits and definitions and discover what might have been missing from your life. If we experience the world through the medium of what our minds have accepted as reality, a subtle shift in perception will take us beyond the artificial boundaries of our beliefs and introduce us to a wider, richer and more fulfilling level of personal experience.
