Beyond APAS NSG: How Open Commerce is Driving Tech Transformation in Brazil’s Retail Sector
Brazil, with over $134 billion in annual retail sales and a 5.6% YoY CAGR, is one of LATAM’s largest retail markets. It is home to over 1.2 million retail businesses, many of which are seeking innovative solutions to thrive in this competitive market and drive consistent growth.
RedCloud recently attended the NSG (Next Supermarket Generation) event by APAS - Associa??o Paulista de Supermercados to showcase the potential of Open Commerce and how it is transforming the retail sector in the country. This edition of RedCloud Insights features a Q&A session with Henrique Celentano , our VP of Sales and Partnerships, to delve deeper into the insights gained from the event and the future of Open Commerce in Brazil’s retail sector.
RedCloud recently sponsored the APAS NSG event; how significant was this event and others like it in shaping the future of the retail landscape in Brazil? And what is RedCloud’s goal for events like this??
The NSG (Next Supermarket Generation) Event is an innovation and technology-focused event promoted by the Associa??o Paulista de Supermercados (APAS), Brazil’s largest retail association. Since its inaugural edition in 2016, this event has aimed to help supermarkets better understand and leverage cutting-edge technology for their operations. RedCloud sponsored this edition of the event to reach more retailers and supermarkets to demonstrate how Open Commerce can pave the way for a tech-led future where brands, supermarkets, and retailers can sell and buy better, respectively, using data.
You held a panel session at the event; what were the key insights about Open Commerce you shared with the audience? And what grabbed the interest of the attendees?
At the panel session, I focused on the increasingly important role that technology plays in the rapidly evolving retail landscape and showed how Open Commerce’s unique proposition and simple tools help brands, retailers, and distributors access more opportunities across the supply chain and make better data decisions.
These insights resonated positively with the attendees, many of whom were stuck and did not know how to proceed with implementing technology into their business. One of the main questions we got during the panel was, “How to start, considering there are so many options, but at the same time, so much uncertainty about the future of AI and technology?”?

These challenges make it harder for these businesses to drive significant growth even in the face of the huge potential and opportunities provided by the market.
