As a former corporate professional turned solo business owner, I've discovered a multitude of revenue streams that leveraged my corporate experience while providing me with the freedom and flexibility I was looking for.?

In this post, I'll share with you eight streams I've used over my four years as an escapee, each tailored for small businesses, startups, and non-profits. I have 2 more pending so this is not an exhaustive list but it worked for me.

  1. Solo Consulting: Offering specialized expertise and guidance to businesses in need. As a solo consultant, you can leverage your years of experience in corporate environments to provide valuable insights and solutions to clients facing challenges in their operations, strategy, or implementation. Usually fixed fee/fixed duration
  2. Fractional Leadership: Acting as a part-time leader or executive for multiple organizations. Fractional leadership allows you to lend your expertise to multiple companies simultaneously, providing strategic guidance, leadership development, and operational support without the commitment of a full-time role. 8-10 Hours per week
  3. Advisory to Business Owners: Providing strategic advice and mentorship to business owners. Your corporate background equips you with the knowledge and insights necessary to help entrepreneurs navigate complex challenges, make informed decisions, and scale their businesses effectively. 5-10 hours per month
  4. Reseller: Services and Programs: Partnering with other businesses to resell their services or programs. As a reseller, you can leverage your network and industry connections to market and sell products or services, earning a commission for each successful transaction. As opportunities present themselves
  5. Ad Hoc Coaching: Individuals: Offering personalized coaching and mentorship to individuals seeking professional development or career advancement. Your corporate experience provides you with valuable insights and expertise that can help others achieve their goals and overcome obstacles in their careers. Per hour pricing
  6. Sponsorship Deals: Podcast/Newsletter: Monetizing your platform through sponsorship deals. If you have a podcast or newsletter with a dedicated audience, you can leverage your influence to secure sponsorship deals with brands and companies looking to reach your target demographic. Each deal is custom but is usually an awareness or conversion campaign
  7. Ad Hoc Programs: Opportunistic: Developing and offering ad hoc programs or workshops based on market demand. Your corporate experience gives you unique insights into industry trends and challenges, allowing you to create valuable programs that address specific needs and pain points. Similar to consulting gigs. A custom but repeatable program
  8. Defined 1:1 Coaching Programs: Offering structured coaching programs tailored to the needs of individual clients. By leveraging your corporate experience, you can develop specialized coaching programs that help clients achieve specific goals, whether it's career advancement, leadership development, or personal growth. Fixed fee and repeatable programs

The Bottom Line:

Each of these revenue streams has the potential to not only generate income but also provide you with the autonomy, flexibility, and fulfillment that may be lacking in traditional corporate roles.
