BEWARE OF PC SPYWARE

BEWARE OF PC SPYWARE

Computers have made our lives more convenient than ever before; we can work, communicate, shop, and be entertained from the comfort of our own home.

Yet here we are with so many downsides to this convenience.

FREEDOM and SECURITY, PRIVACY and ONLINE SAFETY.

SADLY there are some companies (people) that use computers to exploit people and their personal information.

One of the common ways they do this is by using spyware. To protect yourself from spyware, you need to know what it is and how to delete it.

Spyware is a software that secretly installs itself on your computer and collects your personal information – such as your name, address, phone number, or credit card number. It also monitors your online activities, such as the websites you visit, the things you are interested in, and the products you buy. It then sends this information to third parties who use it to target you with ads – or for other malicious purposes. This is why it is so important to delete spyware as soon as you suspect it is on your computer.

However, it is not always easy to detect spyware on your computer. Some of the signs that spyware may be present are if your computer is running very slow or crashing often. If you think you have spyware on your computer, you can buy software that will scan and delete spyware from your system.

It is very important to delete spyware using reliable and effective software. Do not download free software from the Internet that claims to delete spyware, because some of them are actually spyware themselves. You may end up installing more spyware instead of deleting it.

In most cases, it is worth paying for reputable software that will regularly scan and delete spyware from your computer. You can find such software at most computer stores where staff can help you.

But the best way to protect your computer and your personal information is to prevent spyware from getting on your computer in the first place. Be careful about where you go online and what you download from the Internet.

RULE OF THUMB: Only install software from trusted sources that you know and respect. This way you can avoid having to delete spyware in the future.

=== BEWARE OF SPYWARE ===

Spyware is a type of malware that secretly collects your personal information and sends it to third parties without your consent. Spyware can harm your privacy, security, and performance. To protect your computer from spyware, you can follow these tips:

  • Install a firewall: A firewall is a software or hardware device that monitors and controls the incoming and outgoing network traffic on your computer. A firewall can help prevent unauthorized access to your computer and block spyware from communicating with its servers. You can use the built-in firewall in Windows or install a third-party firewall for extra protection.
  • Run antivirus software: Antivirus software is a program that detects and removes malware from your computer. Antivirus software can help protect you from spyware and other threats. You should run antivirus software regularly and keep it updated with the latest virus definitions. You can use the built-in antivirus in Windows or install a third-party antivirus for extra features.
  • Install anti-spyware software: Anti-spyware software is a program that specifically targets and removes spyware from your computer. Anti-spyware software can help you detect and delete spyware that antivirus software may miss. You should run anti-spyware software periodically and keep it updated with the latest spyware definitions. You can use a reputable anti-spyware software like Avast One or Norton
  • Use complex passphrases: A passphrase is a sequence of words or characters that you use to access your computer or online accounts. A passphrase should be long, unique, and hard to guess. A passphrase can help you prevent spyware from stealing your login credentials and personal data. You should use a different passphrase for each account and change it regularly. You can use a passphrase generator or manager to create and store strong passphrases.
  • Don’t download free software from questionable sources: Some free software on the internet may contain spyware or other malware that can infect your computer. You should avoid downloading free software from unknown or untrusted sources. You should only download software from official or reputable websites. You should also read the terms and conditions and uncheck any unwanted options before installing any software.
  • Verify the browser’s security settings: Your browser is the main tool that you use to access the internet. Your browser’s security settings can affect how spyware can enter and operate on your computer. You should verify the browser’s security settings and make sure they are set to the highest level. You should also clear your browser’s cache, cookies, and history regularly. You can use a browser extension or tool to block or remove spyware and adware.
  • Try spyware and adware removal services: If you suspect that your computer is infected with spyware or adware, you can try using a spyware and adware removal service. A spyware and adware removal service is a professional service that can scan and clean your computer from spyware and adware. A spyware and adware removal service can help you restore your computer’s performance and security.
  • You can find many spyware and adware removal software online.

=== WATCH OUT FOR WIERD BEHAVIOUR FROM YOUR PC ===

Spyware is a type of malicious software that secretly collects your personal information and sends it to third parties without your consent. Spyware can harm your privacy, security, and performance.

To know if your computer has spyware, you can try the following methods:

  • Check the Task Manager or Activity Monitor: These are tools that show you the apps and processes running on your computer. You can access them by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc on Windows or Command + Spacebar on Mac. Look for any suspicious or unfamiliar names that consume a lot of memory or CPU. If you find any, search for them online or end their task.
  • Use a trusted antivirus: Antivirus software is a program that detects and removes malware from your computer. You should run antivirus software regularly and keep it updated with the latest virus definitions. You can use the built-in antivirus in Windows, which I use these days as it is VERY AWESOME, or install a third-party antivirus for extra features.
  • Some examples of antivirus software are Avast One or Norton. of which I have used in the past, mainly being AVAST but I just got so pissed off over all the advertising... grrrr.
  • View active internet connections: Spyware often communicates with its servers over the internet. You can use a tool called netstat to see the active internet connections on your computer. You can access it by opening a command line window and typing netstat. Look for any connections that have foreign or unknown IP addresses or ports. If you find any, search for them online or block them with a firewall.
  • Watch for open ports: Ports are the endpoints of communication between your computer and the internet. Spyware may open ports on your computer to allow remote access or data transfer. You can use a tool called 'nmap' to scan your computer for open ports. You can google for it, and run it from a command line window. Look for any ports that are open or filtered and have unknown or suspicious services. If you find any, search for them online or close them with a firewall.
  • Format your hard drive: This is the most drastic and effective method to remove spyware from your computer. Formatting your hard drive will erase everything on it, including spyware and your personal files. You should only do this as a last resort and after backing up your important data.
  • You can format your hard drive by following the instructions so google for it.

=== SPIES ARE EVERYWHERE, SO THEY SAY ===

Spyware is a type of malicious software that secretly collects your personal information and sends it to third parties without your consent.

Spyware can harm your privacy, security, and performance.

To remove spyware from your computer manually, you can try the following steps:

  • Update your Windows system: Updating your Windows system can help you fix any security vulnerabilities that spyware may exploit. To update your Windows system, go to Settings > Update & Security > Check for updates. Restart your computer if prompted
  • Uninstall any suspicious or unwanted programs: Spyware may disguise itself as a legitimate program or bundle itself with other software. To uninstall any suspicious or unwanted programs, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features. Right-click on the program that you want to remove and click on Uninstall. Restart your computer after the uninstallation is complete
  • Scan your computer with an antispyware program: Antispyware programs are designed to detect and remove spyware from your computer. You can download and install a reputable antispyware program, such as Spybot Search and Destroy, Lavasoft Adaware, or Super Anti-Spyware. Update the program with the latest spyware definitions and run a full scan of your computer. Follow the instructions to remove any spyware that is found
  • Check your browser’s security settings and extensions: Spyware may also affect your browser’s security settings and extensions. To check your browser’s security settings, go to the browser’s settings or options menu and look for the security or privacy section. Make sure the security level is set to the highest and clear your browser’s cache, cookies, and history. To check your browser’s extensions, go to the browser’s settings or options menu and look for the extensions or add-ons section. Remove any extensions that you don’t recognize or trust
  • I REPEAT SOME: Use a tool to view and block active internet connections and open ports: Spyware may communicate with its servers over the internet or open ports on your computer to allow remote access or data transfer. To view and block active internet connections, you can use a tool called netstat. To access it, open a command line window and type netstat. Look for any connections that have foreign or unknown IP addresses or ports. If you find any, search for more information about them online first, or block them with a firewall. As said before above; to view and block open ports, you can use a tool called nmap. Look for any ports that are open or filtered and have unknown or suspicious services. If you find any, search for them online or close them with a firewall.

I hope this helps you remove spyware from your computer manually.
