They come at you from all areas and in todays world of social media it's 24/7 - 365!! They are often your family and friends and do it with the best intentions. LinkedIn (Which I believe also offers some great content) is a breading ground for them.
Goal setting, or openly talking about it, is still rather a taboo subject in many areas. What right do you have to set such grand goals? Who are you to think you can achieve so much? Lets poke fun at the individuals who do set goals and gets up at 5am to achieve!!!
For me its now part of my everyday life. It is my place where I can go in my mind and avoid the negativity that is far to often sent down our TV screens, Tabloids and social media, and that's not even talking about the general chit chat in the pub, parties or the office.
I talk openly now about my past issues and failures and I am not ashamed of what has gone. I have never ever set out to fail, but when chasing dreams, it happens and unfortunatly that does impact others.
Everyday I wake up and listen to a message that I record ever weekend, just reminding me of the good stuff I already have, the good parts of me as a person and what I want to achieve in the future. I run everyday and I visualise myself in that place where I want to be, I visualise running that 100 miles, I do the presentations in which I visualise 20,000 people listening to my story of achievements around life, business, ultra running and then going on to achieve great things themselves.
It has taken me many years to get to this point, however, those years have made me the man I am today and now I can honestly look in the mirror and know I am on the right path. My goals are mine but I am not afraid to share them as I believe there are many people who have goals in them and they need more of us to take the flack, to take the negative comments.
By doing this and keeping going and keeping believing I am sure it will give others and most importantly the children of today the confidence to share their dreams and goals and to be prepared to do what ever it takes to become the very best they can.
Yes, there will always be dreambusters, but that's their opinion and let them have it, but never let someone steal your dreams/goals because that's your business and that's what will eventually give you the feeling of wellbeing you deserve.
