Beware Conventional “Wisdom” on Leadership

Beware Conventional “Wisdom” on Leadership

Much of Conventional “Wisdom” (CW) on how to lead is just plain wrong.

“Don’t bring me problems; bring me solutions" is a prime example. I'm sure you've been told this...and maybe even said it to your people!! (I have to resist the urge myself.)

But why do I say this bit of CW is wrong?? Well, imagine telling your own leader, “Listen, I know about all kinds of problems that could hurt our business, but I’m NOT gonna tell you about them because I don’t have any solutions for you!”

No leader in their right mind would want that!

It’s time to shake things up. I teach a different approach that gets better results—both for individuals trying to solve problems and organizations as a whole. I spell it out in my Todd Talk How to Lead Up: Why Conventional Wisdom is Wrong .?

The story I share showcases two things:

  1. How small changes—ones that feel obvious in retrospect—can make a big impact.?
  2. How important it is to choose the right providers and programs to develop your leaders—because they might be peddling CW that sounds good on paper but doesn't work in practice.??

Sorting through all of the options available to you can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. …or an entire hay FIELD!

This is why I’ve created my free Leadership Training Buyers Guide. This resource is designed to make it easier for you to choose programs and providers that will effect real change and results.
