Will the Betty White Stamps Be the Most Popular in History?
In 1993, Elvis stamps were released and 517 million were sold (worth $150M at 29 cents a piece). Fans even voted on the design— choosing between a young or older Elvis (young Elvis won).
In a win for aging gracefully, Betty White will be honored with her own "Forever" stamp on March 27, 2025. Although USPS mail volume is nothing like it was in 1993, I think her stamps will be very popular. A first-day-of-issue event will be held at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens, offering free admission for the event day.
When asked how she had managed to be universally beloved during her long career, White summed it up with a dimpled smile: "I just make it my business to get along with people so I can have fun. It's that simple."
Forever stamps currently cost 73 cents, so only 205.4 million Betty White stamps will need to be sold to outsell the young Elvis stamp.
