Betty Blocks continues its winning streak: now included in the Magic Quadrant for High Productivity aPaaS.
Gartner includes Betty Blocks in Magic Quadrant. As a result of this placement by Gartner, Dutch startup Betty Blocks has been named one of the best application development platforms in the world. The American IT research firm has included the company in the Magic Quadrant for Enterprise High-Productivity Application Platform as a Service (aPaaS).
Betty Blocks has been included in the latest Magic Quadrant thanks to the ability to deliver and the completeness of vision. The company in the North Holland town of Obdam has been active for approximately five years and now employs 35 staff. Betty Blocks is an aPaaS solution. Using Betty Blocks, anyone with even the slightest interest in IT can build their own application. No programming experience is needed.
Young player among big names
Gartner's Magic Quadrant makes room for a small, select group of leading players in the market for rapid application development platforms (RADs). This year, the quadrant of the market includes just fourteen companies, including Oracle, Fujitsu, Dutch firm Mendix and Salesforce, the world’s largest supplier of CRM software. “The fact that we, as a relatively young player from the Netherlands is now included in this illustrious list is quite an honour. Particularly when you think of the speed with which we achieved that, I’m sure that it’s no something that Gartner has never seen happen so quickly”, says CEO Chris Obdam. “We are already close to the major leaders like Salesforce and Mendix and that is also where we want to be. Our ambition is to challenge the established order and to nestle ourselves among the world’s top 5 application development platforms.”
User friendly
The fact that the American analyst firm has placed Betty Blocks in the Magic Quadrant is a sign recognition for Betty Blocks as a major new party in this market. “The pace at which we are growing, but also the way in which we have set up our work processes – and of course the speed of the development of the platform itself – is impressive. And what is particularly impressive is the user-friendliness of the platform”, Obdam explains. “With just a bit of affinity for IT, with Betty Blocks, you can create your own application. That is unique in the market and is in line with out vision of software development. There is a movement underway that says that primary school children should already be learning to code. But there is another way you can look at it: Make programming simpler and you achieve the same result.
Major clients
And it’s not just them: More and more organisations in the Netherlands are also discovering the benefits of Betty Blocks. The municipalities of Hoorn and Zaanstad have previously developed their own applications on the platform, as have a number of large companies, including KPMG, Tele2, and VIVAT. This, as it did last year, Betty Blocks expects to once again double in sales and number of employees.
