Bettering African leaders....

Last year #PizzaHut announced that it would fund and support 100 RGM's around the by opening up a management degree at the #OpenUniversity. At Marathon Restaurants we were extremely fortunate and proud to have 2 of our applicants selected as a part of the global 100.

Blessing Chiseko (originally from Zimbabwe, now working in Sth Africa) and Berenice Johnson (from Sth Africa) are both Restaurant Managers within our system who were the lucky two recipients. Both were extremely excited, but also highly anxious and nervous to complete this course, and felt that they would be challenged - not only with language but with their educational background limitations.

Blessing has been an RGM for over two years and runs our Gardens Restaurant in the CBD area of Kloof Street in Cape Town. She is passionate about here store, her team and her own internal growth, and has taken on the workload and pressure of tertiary study with pride and commitment.

Berenice is our RGM at the Rondebosch store and also has more than 2 years RGM experience with us. This is a new store near the Cape Town Uni and one of our busiest stores. Berenice juggles her store and her study with diligence and is a true 'bulldog' of determination!

Given the program, the workload, and the challenges of managing a business and study one can imagine the level of excitement from both Blessing and Berenice, as well as the pride from all of us here at Marathon when they both announced that they had successfully passed their first semester of study. Seeing the pride in their faces and the excitement in their strides as they shared the news was emotional and gave a great feeling, seeing that they had been self driven to better themselves and their own personal development, which in turn will add to the depth of skills across the continent as programs such as this continue to evolve and become available.

Blessing and Berenice you are both amazing and awesome and I personally look forward to your continued growth of yourselves and your business into 2020 and beyond....you are doing yourself, your countries and company and brand proud, whilst also leading the way in showing the power of #womenleadership within Marathon Restaurants Africa as well.
