Better User Experience with WordPress Gutenberg 14.2

WordPress releases the upgraded Gutenberg 14.2 with several enhancements to the editing process and user experience.

Releases of Gutenberg 14.2 are now available. The most recent version includes a new header and footer blocks, as well as interface enhancements that make workflow simpler and performance better.

The new features are all little upgrades that work together to make Gutenberg a more streamlined and user-friendly site editor.

Better User Experience:

Intelligent recommendations for Query Loop block modifications. Through the change, only pertinent Query Loop block patterns are displayed, resulting in a smoother editing experience.

Improvements to Writing Flow:

A more intuitive writing flow is now available in Gutenberg.

Three Improvements

• A more realistic animation effect is now included in the sibling and line inserters.
• Multiple block selection now has a more unified visual appearance.
• When the user is typing, the block inserter is now hidden to reduce visual clutter.

Better Functionality:

Letter Spacing in Headings

The distance between each letter in a word is referred to as letter spacing.

For the header components, being able to change the spacing between characters is crucial since some fonts might cause the spacing to be excessively tight.

A publisher may now modify how much space is being used by the Global Styles interface.

Better Calendar Block:

There are now additional options for customizing the calendar block's appearance and behavior.

The calendar block's background, link, and text colors have now been chosen. Additionally, text colors may now be carried over from the parent block and colors can now be changed using global styles.

Editor Performance Improvement:

In the Enhanced List Block functionality, an issue was fixed.

When list items were nested inside of one another, a performance problem existed with the functionality that was first released on August 31, 2022, for Gutenberg 14.0.

New Block Pattern Categories:

Banners and footers are now represented by two new block pattern types in Gutenberg.

Bug Fixes and Improvements:

Along with the aforementioned enhancements and additions, there are several more bug fixes and new features that collectively make Gutenberg a more user-friendly site editor.

There are several enhancements that will make using Gutenberg to create websites more enjoyable, but there are no significant outstanding features.
