Key Technical Features of the AITO M7

Advanced High-Level Intelligent Driving: Huawei's advanced high-level intelligent driving system has generated significant attention, particularly its capability to operate without reliance on high-precision maps. The launch event for the AITO M7 demonstrated this achievement and garnered enthusiastic responses from the audience. In the realm of high-level intelligent driving, the primary challenge faced by automakers is enabling vehicles to correctly perceive and understand the physical environment. While most vehicles' perception systems can effectively detect and understand common objects such as people and other vehicles, the reality is that driving conditions are highly variable, encompassing unpredictable elements such as fallen trees after a storm or debris from construction vehicles on the road. How should a vehicle respond to such unique situations? Huawei's answer to this challenge is GOD (General Obstacle Detection) 2.0.

GOD 2.0 goes beyond perceiving and understanding common objects, combining the perception of conventional objects, such as pedestrians and vehicles, with open-set attribute recognition capabilities. It possesses self-supervised learning abilities for recognizing special objects. Specifically, GOD 2.0 conducts 3D reconstruction of historical driving scenes to identify all physical elements present, including trees, barriers, road edges, and other obstacles. After identifying these elements, GOD 2.0 extracts traffic flow trajectory information within the driving scene, learning how to navigate the road correctly, avoid obstacles, and ultimately generating a wealth of simulated training data to continually enhance its perception and understanding of special objects.

Huawei's emphasis on the development of GOD 2.0 is not only aimed at making Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADS) more human-like but also significantly enhancing safety. According to Huawei, the AITO M7, equipped with Huawei ADS 2.0, can accurately identify unconventional obstacles like overturned vehicles, cardboard boxes, road edges, barriers, and more. Furthermore, when it detects obstacles in the forward direction, it can trigger AEB emergency braking (with a maximum stopping speed of up to 90 km/h). When it senses a collision risk with barriers or other objects in the lateral direction, it can activate ELK to make timely adjustments to the vehicle's direction, providing comprehensive protection. In addition, Huawei ADS 2.0 extends the application of emergency braking to low-speed driving situations, reducing the risk of minor collisions or slipping on slopes.

In addition to these active safety capabilities, the AITO M7 equipped with Huawei ADS 2.0 employs a fusion of "laser radar + visual perception" for intelligent driving solutions. The newly added top-mounted laser radar has a detection range of approximately 200 meters and a maximum horizontal detection angle of 120°. This feature enables the AITO M7 to proactively sense its environment in situations where visibility is limited, such as tunnels with varying light conditions, allowing for early deceleration or evasive maneuvers. Beyond active safety, Huawei has also revamped the vehicle's structural design to enhance passive safety. The AITO M7 features advanced materials, with approximately 24.4% of the entire vehicle composed of submarine-grade hot-formed steel and 80.6% high-strength steel and aluminum alloy. Additionally, CBS composite body materials have been introduced in the A-pillar and B-pillar to improve durability, rigidity, and collision safety while reducing vehicle weight.
