Better Teams experience with BYOD
During Microsoft Ignite it was announced that we would get a better Teams experience with BYOD and I just saw it live today. Besides strugling with cables, adaptors and choosing the right audio and video devices. Some of issues is that when using your own PC for Teams meetings is that your colleagues might also see all you personal reminders that pops up during the call.
Do you want to get a better Teams experience in BYOD rooms?
Go to: Room Audio - Connected room devices - choose your connected device
On the right hand side you will see that the correct audio and video devices are connected. You will get an even better experience if you also enable Shared Display Mode (in the lower-right corner)
When joining Teams metings in BYOD rooms like this you will now get a notification on the Front of Room Screen
Your PC will basically do an advanced Extended Desktop, and you will also get notified on your PC
A nice layout on the screen is now shown. You will be able to see both participants and share content at the same time
If it is you sharing content, you will have the presenter view on your own PC
You can even show the chat on the Front of Room Screen
Show chat without content
If you want to see Participants

I normally hide my self view, which is also easy when using Shared Display Mode. On your PC client go to: View - More options - Hide me
Now you will only see remote participants on the Front of Room Screen
For more advanced BYOD meeting room you can add a 2nd camera to you PC or via a PC dock, and now you will have the option in the PC client to switch camera
Here is a schematic of my test setup
In a real life scenario you might need to extend the USB on the 2nd camera.
Added after article released.
I did some stress testing on the this setup.
Some of the things that could be improved:
If Front of Room Screen do not have resolution 1920 x 1080 - Scale 100%, then you could end up with: white background on reactions, popup window of self view on the Front of Room Screen. Chat is a large part of the Screen (like in the screen shots above)
Also if your windows settings is set to show taskbar on all screens it do also shows up on the Front of Rooms Screen.
So for the best experience make sure the Front of Room Screen is set to 1920 x 1080p - Scale 100% and disable Taskbar on all screens.
This feedback is already provided to Microsoft.
