Be better now, not 12 months from now

Be better now, not 12 months from now

This past week I've been having lots of conversations with clients looking both in the rear view mirror and the windshield: Where did we go this year and what direction do we want (need!) to go next year? (You can follow over here for actionable steps to take- https://recruiting-insights.kit.com/)

While it's common to be reflective on what we have or have not accomplished since January, it's imperative that you are intentional; approach this time of year with constructive self-criticism.?

Processes and various techniques from your favorite lifestyle coach can be found all over the internet to guide yourself through a productive year-end review. But what I can say is this:

1- Do not let these next 2 weeks pass by without spending some time reviewing what worked, what didn’t; what did you NOT try that maybe you should have??

Spending the same amount of dollars/ time and getting the same results YOY is not good enough. That is not going to impress your boss.

2- Don’t save a Year End Review for once every 12 months! I schedule a mini-review with myself each month. When I am on my A-game, I will do one every Friday afternoon.?

As it relates to recruiting? I thought you'd never ask....

Here are some questions to ask yourself.

1- Do the same locations / positions still have hiring needs?

  • What and where am I spending money to solve this problem?
  • If the problem is pervasive and I’m throwing money at the same "solution" that I’ve been using for 10+ years, why have I not tried something else??!

2- Did I spend more or less time reviewing the top of funnel?

  • Is my quality at the top of funnel better or worse than in previous years?
  • Am I getting the right balance between quantity and quality? Can I do better?

3- What is something new I can try that demonstrates innovation in hiring strategies but if it doesn’t work, won’t break my whole system?

If you need help answering these questions, I am here to talk through it and maybe, just maybe, challenge you a little.?

Happy Recruiting!
