Our community forum for mental health at work on October 17 features three service providers changing the mental space in this business community. I'll be featuring each of the three speakers over the next few weeks.
Carmina Blasko is a licensed professional counselor and clinical director for Ellie Mental Health in Monument. She eagerly supported this because of the impact mental health has on our physical fitness, company culture, and productivity.
It's not that companies don't have services for mental health, it's that many employees don't have the time off to use them.
Her team provides both individual and group therapy for workplace teams, for instance after a traumatic event. That conversation reminds me of the day I came in the office after a horrible night club shooting in our community. I'd been crying so much that I didn't both with eye makeup. Instead of asking, "What's wrong? You don't seem yourself today?" the question from my boss was "You're awfully casual today? No meetings?"
