The key to great barbecue is consistency, consistent airflow and consistent temperature. Utilizing the ANSYS suite of tools to build and test virtual prototypes, we can optimize the airflow and temperature inside of the smoker to ensure we have the right conditions for great barbecue.
Virtual prototyping is the creation of a product in every detail digitally inside of a computer. We can then test the product utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). We can test the product in every detail and optimize the design for the most demanding conditions.
We designed the smoker for consistent airflow and temperature during the most miserable conditions, A 40 mph wind with rain and snow. Now you're probably thinking, why would I want to go out in those conditions? Well, you wouldn't, that is why we are designing the smoker to be monitored remotely from the comfort of your favorite chair or favorite bar via smartphone.
We have modeled the internal and external airflow of the smoker, this allows us to determine the effects of the external conditions on the performance of the smoker. By putting the smoker in a virtual wind tunnel we can assess the effects of the wind and how it affects the temperature inside the smoker. We utilize a double wall to provide insulation and we design the air inlets and exhausts to minimize the effects of the wind to maintain steady air flow and temperature.
