Betrayal to the Earth is a Grand Invitation to Environmental Devils

Unlike icebergs, you don’t have to discover the Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets to find #fatbergs . Fatbergs? Yes, you read it right and it’s not a hoax.

Fatberg is a monster that feeds on every unusual thing you cascade down the drain or flush down the toilet, and it lives right beneath your feet! Horrifying as it sounds, this monster could grow gigantic if you don’t stop feeding them.

Three years back, in the largest metropolis in the United Kingdom; London, a fatberg the size of their famous red double-decker bus has been cleared from its sewer system. The giant weighed 40 tonnes - about six-and-a-half times as heavy as an Elephant!

It could take days if not weeks to dissect the monstrous fatbergs. In Malaysia, where it’s common to have monsoon transition phases - clearing fatbergs from the sewer system is a necessary, but costly action to prevent flooding.?

Malaysians love deep-fried food – we use a humongous quantity of cooking oil in our daily cooking. Fatbergs, too, consume improperly discarded used cooking oil to grow in the sewers. Pouring used cooking oil into the sink and drains is easy, unethical and doesn’t benefit you in any way.?

There is a method to stop feeding the monster in the sewer - ethically recycle the used cooking oil. The best way to repurpose used cooking oil is by recycling it into fuel alternatives, animal feed and several different household products and cleaning materials. These steps can be started in the comfort of your home.

Used cooking oil can be mixed with compost to form homemade fertilizers. If you are keen to create your own artisanal soap, used cooking oil can be combined with lye and water to make them. Tutorial videos on the internet will be a huge assistance to fill your weekends with sustainable activities.

Looking at the excellent cooking oil consumption locally and the number of carbon emissions we have contributed from our transportation, we have the “privilege” to give back to nature by recycling used cooking oil to produce various biofuels.?

FatHopes Energy , with the aim to reach a sustainable future, is growing in the SEA region and is collecting used cooking oil for the sole purpose of converting them into sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). You can help make a big impact on the environment by packing used cooking oil in recycled containers and selling them to us via our app – no tutorials are needed.
