Beta Alpha Psi Gives Back
Beta Alpha Psi - Delta Pi Chapter
International Accounting Honor Society at Hofstra University
I participated in the ‘Hofstra SMART Program – Homework Helpers’ where we went to St. Martin de Porres Marianist School (A Pre-K through 8th grade Marianist School in Uniondale, NY) to help the children do their homework and understand the value of working hard. We also got to play games after to show the reward of hard work! This was a wonderful experience and is the type of work that is something that I hold near & dear to my heart because I have always had a passion for giving back to my community in some way, shape, or form! This was particularly meaningful because the school is in Uniondale, New York (which is where I was born, raised, and still live to this day). We helped the students with homework in Math, English Language Arts, & Spelling (grasping the concepts of addition & subtraction, learning how to spell through repetition, as well as learning the difference between a command, a question, & a statement.) It was also a nice experience to see the children play games (like ‘Jenga’, ‘Guess Who?’, ‘Scrabble’, & Puzzles) after the hard work that they put in to get their homework done. Overall this was a great experience, and I would love to continue to give back to my community in ways like this.
