“The best way out is always through.” — Robert Frost
It takes a tremendous amount of energy to ignore or otherwise run away from your problems in life. Closing your eyes to the reality that you are facing, only causes more pain and personal suffering.?
When faced with adversity and challenges, you have only a few choices. Before you can even consider the options, you must clear your mind to receive guidance, by fully accepting the reality of your situation in this exact moment. You do not have to like or agree with what has just happened to you, but you simply cannot change what already is.?
Once you accept what is already happening, you can choose to accept it, without needing to change anything (someone cuts you off in traffic and you let it go), you can confront the situation with an alternative plan (I will drive another way to work since there is so much traffic on my usual route), or you can remove yourself, to seek to address the situation later after you have the space you need to ponder what your options may be (your boss insults you publicly, in front of your staff at work).?
Without first accepting the situation as it already is, you will be fighting reality, which robs you of your energy and the ability to receive guidance from within. Guidance from within only arises when you have a calm mind, not in the middle of cursing the heavens or throwing a temper tantrum because your day was ruined.?
Moving with wisdom through each situation you face, allows you to remain present in a calm state of mind. No one makes good decisions when they are fighting or angry at the world.?
Denial of what already is, also does not make the situation easier. It also prevents you from receiving insights, as you are still not acknowledging what is going on now, in the present.?

While it takes some practice, let your initial irritation about unplanned events, move through you, without giving them much attention and without judgment. The feeling will pass quickly if you do not give it further “oxygen”.?
Settle into your situation and assess it exactly as it is. If you have a flat tire, no amount of wishing that it is otherwise,? will undo the flat tire. Options will arise from within you once you accept the situation (call AAA, text a friend to help, change the tire yourself).?
The next time you are confronted with a dramatic, unwelcome change of plans (which usually happens daily in one form or another), try accepting what is, exactly as it is,? first.? You will be amazed at how much calmer you will be, with options about what to do, quickly making themselves known.?
The best way out is always through.?
