The best way to lift yourself out of failure

Failure is inevitable. It's that ugly beast that rears its head in the most unfortunate times. It exists in times we wish it didn’t and hope it leaves us alone so we can focus on living successfully. We will fail many times throughout our lives. But this doesn't mean we should give up and quit. Failure is an important part of life, and helps us find our way towards success. We all have our fair share of failures, but it's what we learn from them that determines whether we achieve success or not.

It's a weird word, isn't it? Failure; everyone knows what it stands for, but few people actually like to use it in everyday language. In fact, we have a whole host of euphemisms to use instead of the one simple word. I've been guilty of this as well — if something didn't go right, I'd instead say that it was "challenging" or "problematic" or any other similar word that used a modifier instead of the root cause; this is something I'm trying to change. I've realised that we're all just afraid of being honest with ourselves when things go wrong, and there's no reason for it. Failure is important. It's how we learn from our mistakes and move on to better things; it's just another word for learning — it means that we've tried something new and it didn't work out. It doesn't mean that we should give up or stop trying; instead, it means that we need to change our approach so that next time we'll get a better outcome.

What do you do when you fail?

There's no easy answer here, but there are some things you can do to help yourself recover.

  1. Mentally overcome the failure: Try not to take it too personally, the first step in moving past failure is to accept it. You can't change the past, but you can learn from it and move forward with a new perspective. It's not just important to learn from your failures and move on, but it's also important not to beat yourself up over them.
  2. Learn from failure: The key here is identifying what went wrong and then figuring out what you can do differently next time. Ask yourself questions like: What happened? Why did this happen? What could I have done differently? How should I have responded differently? What would have happened if I had acted differently? We can't always predict how things will turn out when we embark on something new, but taking time to reflect on what went wrong can help us improve ourselves and the way we handle situations moving forward.
  3. Pay attention to the signs: ?There's no such thing as a coincidence when it comes to failure — every negative sign along the way should serve as an early warning sign that something might not be working out between you and the outcome you're chasing. Sometimes these signs are obvious right away, but other times they're subtle enough that we don't even notice them until it's too late. Learning how to pay attention to signs of failure will help prevent those unfortunate situations where everything seems fine until suddenly everything falls apart all at once. By doing this, you may recognise a pattern of behaviour or thought process that leads to failure. For example, if you repeatedly find yourself in situations where you're unhappy with the results, you may consider whether there might be something about the way you approach things that may contribute toward this outcome. If so, try changing your approach or thinking process until you get better results. This might mean documenting your successes and failures (both big and small) so that you can see patterns emerging over time.

"Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor." — Truman Capote

Try to always remember, failure is not an option, it's a constant state of being. Failure does not mean that you are a failure. It simply means that you have not yet found the solution to your problem. It is a part of life and it’s important to accept this fact. You will fail many times in life but if you don’t give up, you will succeed in time. You need to face failure with courage and do whatever it takes to overcome it and learn from your mistakes.
