The Best Way to Introduce Yourself to Your Team

Introducing yourself as a project manager may feel intimidating. But there are simple things you can do to make a really good impression with a simple but solid introduction.

Here are a few steps you can take to ease those nerves and make a great first introduction!

1. Do Your Research

Before you meet your project team, do some research on the individuals who will be on the project.

You might be thinking, what on earth does this mean?

You have a team that you’ll be getting to know, but it can be really helpful to go in already having a sense of who they are.

Who are these individuals? What is their subject matter expertise? Talk to your manager or project sponsor to get that insight, because it really helps to know ahead of time a little bit about who you’re dealing with on your project team.

2. Email Introduction

If you followed the first tip, then you’ll already have some information on exactly who they are. But their first impression of you happens through email.

Sending an email introduction will set the tone for when you meet with them in person. The email introduction should be short and sweet, and you can talk a little bit about your project style to set the tone.
