As a starting point, I think it’s hard to dispute the fact that the Internet has unleashed vast amounts of creativity in the world. From funny memes on social media to long-form blog posts on a whole host of topics, the Internet has been an amazing democratizing force. With an Internet connection and an electronic device, you can literally change your life.

That’s the good news. The more inconvenient news is that some of the most prominent platforms for content creation have constantly changing rules and regulations. While this may not seem like the most important thing in the world, these rules and regulations may prevent you from getting the most out of your content.

One example of this is YouTube. YouTube is obviously a juggernaut in the world of digital content. In fact, according to Alexa, YouTube is the second-most trafficked website on the Internet. If you want to get the most out of your video marketing work (which you arguably should), you will have at least some interaction with YouTube. It is the juggernaut and it isn’t going away anytime soon.

Yet while it’s easy to think that YouTube gives you all the tools to achieve your video marketing goals, you may be unpleasantly surprised.

For one thing, YouTube’s algorithm is constantly changing. For us mere mortals, it is somewhat of a black box. Yes, there are articles out there that talk about taking advantage of YouTube’s algorithm, but we really don’t know the full extent of how the algorithm works. Add the fact that it is constantly changing and it becomes difficult to create a successful long-term strategy that “hacks” YouTube’s algorithm.

But beyond that, YouTube doesn’t make it easy to direct viewers to more of your videos. Yes, you can always take a break in the middle or end of your video content and reference other videos that you’ve made. However, there isn’t an easy way to make your videos actionable. In other words, YouTube doesn’t provide the tools that can help your viewers accomplish your business goals. As just one example, there isn’t a feature where you can easily let your viewers download a white paper or eBook on the topics discussed in the video. Without the ability to do this, business video creators are leaving an immense amount of value on the table.

Ultimately, I believe that it is time for creators to take more control over their video content. Everyone from solopreneurs to large corporations should be able to easily leverage video in a way that can help them accomplish their goals. Whether that is to promote a new product or service or follow-up with a new client, you should be able to accomplish these goals on YouTube.

And because it is yours, you can design it in a way that accomplishes all of your objectives. In other words, you can use that garden to drive certain actions. By taking advantage of both of these gardens, you can get more benefits with the same exact content. Your video uploaded to YouTube can generate subscribers, engagement, and organic growth. Someday I want to understand what to do and what not to do with YouTube. Today, this effort seems huge. If I can figure it all out, I can utilize the Dubb Platform to creat the right content that gets my two brands out there. 1) HIVE, high impact video engagement, powered by Dubb. (For high tech B2B enterprise and for teachers). 2) Better internet for rural communities and Housing Administrations (as being funded these days by the Biden administration).
