Best Way to Create & Sell Products

Best Way to Create & Sell Products

The least risky way to create products is to validate them first – whether through a series of blog posts or social media posts, podcast episodes, or workshop.

Before you sink dozens or hundreds of hours into creating a product, determine whether or not the product is something people really want.

From there, create and pre-sell the offer.

Only after people fork over their cash do you spend your valuable time building a prototype—and later, a fully developed product—that can sell while you sleep.

I give this advice so often that I finally took the time to write down several stories and takeaways and develop a Product Launch Blueprint, which you can download for free.

I’m looking to work closely with 2 freelancers or consultants in October.

What I want to help you with is a clear plan and momentum you can feel.

Here’s how you know you'd be a good fit for this:

  • You want to be more strategic in how you grow your business.
  • Once we create a roadmap, you'll implement it.
  • You're averaging $5,000 or more per month.
  • You want to be consistent with marketing.

The process has 3 steps:

  1. We do a strategy session and discuss where you're at.
  2. I put together a custom business roadmap for you.
  3. We do another session to finalize it.

I just helped a writer and strategist named Ben create a simple, repeatable marketing plan, and here's what he said in an email on September 29:

"Thanks for all your help. I made more progress in my marketing strategy in the last week than I have all year. Looking forward to our call next week."

Progress happens when you get clarity and create a plan you believe in.

Would you like to work with me on this?

Shoot me an email ([email protected] ) and say, “I’m in.”?

I started freelancing after finishing my M.A. in Literature and getting laid off from a marketing agency. Freelancing led to mobile apps (Bright Newt), a tech startup (Closeup.fm ), a children's book (Grabbling ), and a branding studio (Balernum ).?

I love teaching freelancers and consultants how to stack up specific advantages for more income, free time, and fun. My wife and I live with our wrecking balls and two cats in Knoxville, Tennessee, near the Great Smoky Mountains.

Every time you talk about creating and launching products I'm reminded that every product starts out as an expense, even if it's the expense of my time (only lol). Therefore your methodology keeps those expenses to near 0. Always a win in my book.

"The least risky way to create products is to validate them first – whether through a series of blog posts or social media posts, podcast episodes, or workshop." Completely agree. Also, the first paid version doesn't have to be fancy. Get a minimum version out, see if anyone buys, after validating, of course. Great advice!
