The Best Way to Complain is to Make Things Better

Hi, I'm Maharis – a design leader driven by innovation and purpose.
Ever had a bad cup of kopi? Too pahit, too cair, or just… off? You could sit there, grumbling that the barista must’ve been half asleep. Or--you could tweak it. Add some sugar, a bit of susu, maybe go full-on kopi campur with a splash of Milo. Suddenly, it’s better. Not perfect, but better.
That’s how real change happens. Complaining alone doesn’t fix anything. The best problem-solvers don’t just point out what’s wrong--they adjust, improve, and try again. Whether it’s fixing a process at work, improving a design, or just making a better cup of kopi, it’s the small tweaks that make the difference. Complain aje tak guna.
And let’s be real, we do this all the time without thinking. We tweak recipes, adjust our routines, find shortcuts. The point isn’t about having the perfect solution--it’s about taking that first step to make things better. Tweak dulu, perfect kemudian.
So next time something frustrates you, ask yourself—Can I tweak this like I’d tweak my kopi? Because at the end of the day, KOPI--Ketika Otak Perlu Inspirasi--reminds us that every problem is just waiting for a fresh solution.
What’s a small tweak you’ve made recently that made a big difference? Jom cerita.

1 个月everytime i want to complain about gov service, i try to think how they can make it better (or daydream "if i'm a PM what would i do instead...") often times i'd discover that solution may pose other bigger problems, then i'm quite able to empathise (a bit) with the policy makers
