Is this the best use of your time right now?

We all, hopefully have what we think are great time saving tricks. We batch our email responses, file away paper documents once a week, do all our planned telephone calls one after the other and slice up our ‘elephant tasks’ into manageable chunks to ensure they get done.
However how often when faced with too much to do and not enough time do we ask ourselves this key question:
Is this the best use of your time right now?
Do you ever go to a meeting and sit there thinking “Why am I here?” and know you could be spending the time more effectively. This is particularly true if there has been a lot of unproductive travelling involved.
So ask yourself constantly “Am I going to get an attractive enough return on the time to be invested?” What is the RTI? – Return on Time Invested
If you feel like the return is worth less than the time you put into an activity or event, don't do it!
Be picky about where you spend your time and look for those things with a high RTI. You’ll be amazed how much extra time you find and how much more effective you will become.
Always looking to help.
