Understanding traffic generation

In the affiliate marketing world, organic traffic is the wood, spark, and fire. Paid traffic is lighter fluid. You can’t pour lighter fluid on the ground and expect a fire to start.

Affiliate marketing is when someone purchases a product you recommend, you earn a commission. But in order for someone to buy from you, they first have to trust you.

Unless you have tens of thousands of dollars to dump into paid ads, you can’t build trust if someone only sees you once or twice.

Organic on the other hand, if you post every day for months or years, people will trust you.

If they trust you, they’re more likely to buy from you.

Choosing the right content type

There are 3 major ways to send a message and create content on the internet.

1. Video Content: Importance in engagement and conversion, with emphasis on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, and YouTube
2. Picture Content: Role in capturing attention, best platforms being Instagram and Pinterest.
3. Written Content: Significance in SEO and thought leadership, focusing on blogs, Medium, and LinkedIn articles.I use a combination of the 3 across multiple social platforms.

Platform-Specific Strategies

• X(formally twitter): Leverage them mainly for short form written
• LinkedIn: Leverage for long form written
• Medium: Utilizing it for in-depth articles to establish authority. Again, long form written.
• Instagram & Facebook: Strategies for visual storytelling and community building. Short form reels and stories work best right now.
• YouTube: Long form video.
• TikTok: Capturing trends for viral marketing opportunities. Short form video.

How to Start: Mastering One Platform at a Time

Focus on one mastering one platform at a time. If you try to create consistently across more than 2–3, you will burn out. Trust me.

After a few weeks of creating on a platform daily, it will become effortless . When that happens, add another.

My traffic generation strategy

Here’s what I’m currently doing that drives traffic to my landing page every day.

Video

• 3 reels & 6 stories a day on Instagram
• 3 reels & 6 stories a day on Facebook

Written | Picture

• 1 long form & 3–5 short form post on X everyday
• 1 long form & 3–5 short form posts post on Threads everyday
• 1 article on Medium everyday
• 1 Article on LinkedIn everyday

I engage with anyone who takes an action on my content like responding to comments or DMs.

This strategy grows my email list every day and when a follower purchases any product I recommend, I earn a commission. That part is almost passive.
