The best time saving tip in MS Outlook

If you are like me and still use Outlook, even with your Gmail account, I am sure you have your frustrations with trying to recall the name of the intended email recipient with no help from MS Outlook. I have found a solution and I'm delighted to share it with you.

Instead of guessing the name in the TO or CC fields, type '@' without the quotes and the name of the individual in the SUBJECT line. Outlook will come up with suggestions from your Address Book.

Unless you have recently sent an email to this person, trying to type the name or email address in the TO or CC field will not be of any help. See the image below for reference.

Let's say you want to send an email to a colleague who works at MIT and their email address is [email protected]. Let's say you have never sent them an email, but they are listed in your personal Address Book. If you tried typing their first name in the TO field in Outlook, nothing will happen because the email address uses only the first initial.

Frustrated, you click on the TO button and try to run multiple searches on the listed address books in vain. Still no guarantee that you'll find this person because of the way a constrained search is run every time.

However, if you enter their first or last name with @ as a prefix in the SUBJECT line, their name is likely to pop up.

Enjoy. And yes, you're welcome!
