The Best Sustainable Grocer in 2022

?Imperfect Foods is a company founded by creative entrepreneurs Steve Nave, Benjamin Chesler, Ben Simon, and Ron Clark...men who wanted to make a difference in the worlds of both health and sustainability. With rising concern for the environment and our bodies, the desire to shop for products that check both of those boxes brings more and more customers flocking to Imperfect Foods. With the options available with this online, delivery based grocer...people are revolutionizing the way they tackle dinner time.

"Not only have kept me alive for the past 3 years, I'm actually healthier than I've ever been. And I've learned to cook things that I would have never attempted."

-Shaggy Rogers

Although healthy foods are ideal, organic produce actually creates a small issue in mainstream markets...

Waste.

If you've ever had a garden that produced food, you may notice that some of our home-grown produce is, well, wonky. In large productions that use chemical sprays, the plants can be modified to produce larger, more uniform, and prettier produce. In organic crops, those crop sprays are not used...so there is a much higher chance of wonky produce.

However, that usually doesn't make it to the consumers...even though it tastes the same and has the same nutritional value as the pretty organic produce that makes it to the shelves of the supermarkets.

That is where Imperfect Foods becomes the hero. They sell all the perfectly good produce (organic or not) that would have otherwise been wasted. The difference is purely cosmetic.

"In a country where we waste 1/3 of the food we produce, a staggering figure, this is incredibly important to me."

-Erin, O'Dowd

On top of helping the waste problem, Imperfect Foods is helping Farmers. If the food that they normally would have to throw away for cosmetic reasons is making it to the customers, that means a well-deserved profit for them. After all, only about 1.3% of people in the US are farmers...and they are given the responsibility of feeding the nation. So, supporting the farmers never hurt anybody.

"It's made me appreciate where my food comes from and the farmers that put in hard work to produce it. Thank you Imperfect Foods for being such a great staple for my family!"

-Melissa

Food waste isn't the only environmental problem that Imperfect Foods is tackling though. One deliver truck bringing groceries to your doorstep is a lot less emissions than if all the people in that area drive to the supermarket and back...each in their own car.

Plus, wouldn't you just love the convenience of having your groceries delivered?? It's a game changer.

"Imperfect Foods has made grocery shopping so much easier for me AND it helps me live more sustainably--truly a win-win!"

-Melissa

Imperfect Foods' efforts have certainly paid off... they have saved more than 139 billion pounds of food from waste, conserved more than 3.83 billion gallons of water, and prevented 35,000 tons of CO2 output. The numbers truly speak for themselves. But as with any successful and well-loved company, their customer are the top priority. After all, the volume of happy customers is how the change happens. Sign up is free, cancellation is consequence -free, website service is personalized, and there is a help center with Monday-Friday call availability, online chat open seven days/ week, and an open field to write the company staff.

So, whether your interests lie in convenience, health, or sustainability...Imperfect Foods is the latest and greatest in the world of groceries.

Great article and copy. I agree…so much food is wasted… and for what reason? Kudos to this company for choosing to make a change.
