Now that summer is in full swing, everyone is moving and exercising more to enjoy the warm weather while it lasts. Hopefully, the motivation naturally occurring with nicer weather will help carry over these good habits as the seasons change. To help keep everyone’s enthusiasm for exercise going, here are some of the BEST REASONS TO EXERCISE:

It promotes good feelings. Not just feeling good from exercise, but also good feelings like happiness and joy are boosted with regular exercise. In fact, studies have shown that consistent exercise can be just as powerful as some antidepressants.

It makes you feel smarter. Believe it or not, exercising and working out a few hours after learning something new can help you hold on to that information. Regular workout sessions also lower your risk of developing dementia.

It can give you a second wind. Research shows that sedentary people who begin to follow an exercise program feel more energetic.

It can help you sleep better. A study found that older adults who have difficulty sleeping improved their sleep habits after participating in a regular exercise program for 16 weeks.

Park Plaza offers a variety of 30-minute exercise classes every morning during the week. Each class is different and there’s something there for everyone. In addition, there is a walking club that meets regularly each week. And there’s always the option to work out on your own to mix up exercises for strength, resistance, and cardio training.
