This week, we want to give the spotlight to Joseph 'Jo Blaq' Macklin! Joseph is a multi-platinum Grammy award-nominated music producer, songwriter, engineer, and vocal arranger, and a KC native who founded DistrKCt and the DistrKCt IS Foundation! After 14 years in the music industry, Joseph returned to his hometown of Kansas City to create pathways and a venue for Kansas City youth to gain first-hand knowledge, experience, and a well-rounded foundation in various careers in the music production industry. With that goal, he has helped under-served youth in KC gain access to digital media production and trades like audio engineering, performance, broadcasting, coding, sound design and mixing, videography, music production, and more.
