A Best Practice Award Winner!
Jay Garant
Communications and Community Relations Leader. Partnerships, fundraising, event planning, video production, storytelling. Consulting in above areas plus K-12 school construction bond referendums. Retired from FCPS.
A few years back Fairfax County developed a committee whose charge was to find ways to better support community engagement of residents 50 years of age or older, known as the 50+ Committee.
An actionable outcome of that committee is GrandInvolve, a tutoring not-for-profit made of people 50 years of age or older supporting students in our schools.
In 2015 Fairfax County Public Schools officially partnered with GrandInvolve on a school-by-school basis. Following considerable success we renewed the partnership in December 2017, partnering them with the FCPS Title I Office with the goal of faster growth.
Today, GrandInvolve has 138 volunteers in 19 of our Title I schools and their growing fast.
For their efforts, GrandInvolve was honored today by Virginia's "Commonwealth Council on Aging" with their Best Practice Award.
Congratulation to the entire GrandInvolve team. Thank you for Supporting Fairfax County Public Schools.

5 年Thank you for your support Jay. It wouldn't have been possible without the commitment of the FCPS Office of Partnerships. Your own enthusiasm and passion for this all volunteer organization gave us entree and credibility with Title I school principals. Your efforts are appreciated as we move forward with the second half of our 10? year plan.
