Gaining traction in strategic marketing is by no means an easy feat. To reach social media success, you need to align all the moving parts. Here’s how to do it.
If you aren’t creating value, something is wrong. By simply having a presence, you aren’t going to achieve your goals. So, how do you achieve these goals? By following best practice and abiding by these 6 steps.
6 steps to successful strategic marketing
- Clarify your purpose
- Build the right things
- Refine your voice
- Know the when & where
- Strive to interact
- Look back to go forth
To successfully build an empire, you need to start strong and follow through with all the right things. Let’s take a deeper dive into how you can do just that with these steps.
Clarify your purpose
You may think you know your purpose. However, it can easily become distorted in the midst of operating the machine. Take a step back and ask yourself:
- “Why am I doing this?”
- “What do I want to achieve?”
- “Why am I using the channels I have chosen?”
Having a purpose is vital. You need to know why you started and what you want to achieve. If you clearly define your purpose, you better your chances of succeeding in your marketing goals. Take some time to get this step right, it has a cascading effect on the others to come.
Build the right things
Many marketers make the mistake of striving to build traffic. They tend to forget about what social media stands for – community and relationships. Becoming a thought leader means striving to build relationships first. Forget about driving traffic and place more focus on growing your audience by building and engaging in relationships.
By building relationships, you automatically create brand advocates. What is better than a market of people who actually want to promote your brand and products for you?
Refine your voice
Being human in a digital world is crucial. People are bombarded on a daily basis with sales driven content. And at the end of the day – this puts people off. Sit down and think about your brand. Ask yourself:
- “What is my brand voice?”
- “What is the tone?”
- “Are we humorous, conversational or educational?”
By answering these questions and developing your brand voice, you open yourself up to humanisation and best practice strategic marketing. Naturally, people want to interact more with brands that sound authentic. People also trust brands more that appear genuine. Strive to develop your voice and connect with your fans in an informal, natural way.
Know the when & where
Under or over-posting can do more bad than it can do good for you. It’s something that takes a while to get right, but you need to know how often to publish on certain platforms.
This will be based on your analytics. Through this, you will be able to tell when followers are most active and when is best for maximum engagement. Use this information and create a content calendar. Brainstorm some objectives and set specific days to specific objectives. Thereafter, create your content accordingly and ensure that you follow this schedule.
Strive to interact....
