The Best Part of My Internship Experience

The best parts of my internship experience this summer were meeting new people and learning about the insurance industry and everything that it entails. On my first day, I knew very little about insurance, but now I know so much more than I did before. Since then, I have learned what kind of coverage different types of companies need, especially construction and logging companies. The people in the Charleston office have been wonderful and if I ever had a question about insurance, I knew I could ask them, and that they would explain it to me in a helpful way. Everyone was so positive which helped our daily operations go smoothly.

The morning before I started my internship, I listened to a speech about persistence referenced in the movie The Founder. In this speech, Calvin Coolidge says, “Persistence and determination alone are all-powerful.” I have kept this in the back of my mind throughout my experience with AssuredPartners. If you want to experience success, you must be persistent in all that you do. At the start of my internship, I would get nervous when I was on the phone with prospects, but once I practiced and got better at it, I gained more confidence.

           The best part about AP is how everyone works together as a team! Collaboration is the key to our success at AssuredPartners and I think that it’s always important for us to work together on everything, no matter what it is. During the summer,I got to spend time with both my supervisor Emily, and other knowledgeable sales executives within the office. . I would have the opportunity to sit in on conference calls with prospects and clients as well as look at a company’s loss runs. Witnessing the amount of collaboration that occurs among the Charleston office is inspiring and without their help, I would not have the knowledge of insurance that I do today.

           From the start, I didn’t know what to expect. I was nervous, yet very excited to have this great opportunity. It has been an unforgettable experience and I cannot thank AssuredPartners enough for everything that they have done for me. The relationships that I have made this summer are unbreakable and that is the reason that I have had a successful internship this summer. I am looking forward to the upcoming months with AssuredPartners and cannot wait to learn more and more each day.
