The Best Moments in Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Sadly, yet another Wednesday has passed without a new episode of?Obi-Wan Kenobi? . The?Star Wars? ?television series concluded on June 22 with a most impressive final episode. Action-packed and emotional, the?Obi-Wan Kenobi?finale, entitled simply “Part VI,” tied the show’s plot together in a neat bow while also leaving the future open for the events of?Star Wars Episode IV:?A New Hope?.

Still, we miss our weekly?Star Wars ?fix. So to celebrate the show and satisfy our cravings, we’re looking back — in no particular order — at 10 of the best moments from all six episodes of?Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Join us below to see if you agree with our selections!

Bail Declares Leia Just As Important

The first episode of?Obi-Wan Kenobi?finds us on the desert planet Tatooine? with a broken Ben Kenobi?. Through an emergency call, Ben hears of?Princess Leia Organa’s? ?abduction. Despite Breha and Bail Organa’s? pleas, the old Jedi? refuses to help. That simply won’t do. Bail travels to speak to him in person and demands to hear his reasons for not helping. Ben insists he’s protecting?Luke Skywalker? , who is living with his Aunt Beru? and Uncle Owen Lars?.

In a moving monologue, Bail declares that Leia is just as important as her brother. They’re twins and both Force-sensitive, after all. And they will both grow up to heroes. For many?Star Wars?fans, this scene is absolute vindication of their own feelings. It’s nice to finally have Leia’s equal importance acknowledged in-world, too.

Third Sister Attacks The Grand Inquisitor

Third Sister?/Reva? endures a lot of verbal abuse from her peers. The Inquisitors? berate her for both her personality and past. The Grand Inquisitor? is the worst of them all, constantly belittling Third Sister despite her skills. Of course, his bullying only serves to exacerbate her already impulsive and aggressive attitude. So after a particularly rude tirade, Third Sister decides she’s had enough. She runs the Grand Inquisitor through with her red lightsaber — and we can all agree he deserves it.

Darth Vader Confesses He Killed Anakin Skywalker

Okay, we know we said we weren’t ranking these moments. But this exchange is the strongest scene in the show. After a particularly grueling battle, Obi-Wan Kenobi and?Darth Vader? ?face one another across a vast wasteland. Overwhelmed with grief, Obi-Wan apologizes for all of his failures, appealing to any love?Anakin Skywalker? ?might still feel for his old master.

In an act of both grace and pure brutality, Darth Vader — whose broken helmet reveals Anakin’s scarred visage beneath — explains that he is not Obi-Wan’s failure. Obi-Wan Kenobi did not kill Anakin Skywalker, after all. Darth Vader did. This moment?is undoubtedly going to be one of the most memorable in Skywalker Saga? history.

Breha Organa Approves of Leia's Holster

Leia’s adoptive mother, Breha, is pretty absent from?Star Wars?as a whole.?Obi-Wan Kenobi?changes this. Making her matter more, the series shows this dynamic and powerful woman as she balances government and family. She loves her unruly daughter, but also wishes for Leia to be a better diplomat.

However, by the end of the show, Breha embraces Leia’s wily ways. She loves the little holster Leia has added to an outfit she put together on her own. While she might not approve of more solo ventures through the woods — considering the kidnapping — she can at least compromise on clothing. And that’s a huge step forward for both Organa women.

Qui-Gon Jinn Appears

Qui-Gon Jinn? ?is a fan-favorite?Star Wars?character. His death in?Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace??disappointed many audience members who wanted to see more of his introspective yet rebellious teachings. Lucky for us, Qui-Gon has appeared across?Star Wars?series as a spirit. And in?Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith?, Obi-Wan is sent to Tatooine to learn how to commune with his former Master.

Obi-Wan Kenobi spends all six episodes trying — and miserably failing — to reach Qui-Gon. Finally, in the last few minutes, Qui-Gon appears on the outskirts of Beggar’s Canyon?. He fondly criticizes his Padawan? for taking so long to reconnect to the Force like this. And then the two walk toward the desert together, hinting at the training that will lead to Obi-Wan being able to leave his own impression in the world to guide Luke.

Beru Fights Back

Like Breha Organa, Beru Lars was once mere decoration onscreen. Owen’s wife had a name, face, and some lines, but she wasn’t vital to the story.?Obi-Wan Kenobi?puts Beru at the front lines — literally. When Owen wants to flee Tatooine as Reva pursues them, Beru unloads a cache of hidden weapons. She’s going to fight. She’s going to defend her home, because she knew this day would come and won’t back down from the challenge. No wonder?Yoda? ?hid Luke here — the wise Jedi must have known Beru is a badass!

Anakin and Obi-Wan Spar

Star Wars?prequels fans and?The Clone Wars??lovers couldn’t get enough of this flashback. Set during the?Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones??era, this sparring session between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker complements their current warfare in the present. The memory illustrates both their friendship and Anakin’s darker urges. Its inclusion is also that much more impactful because we assume it’s Obi-Wan’s memory … before we’re shown that Vader is also recalling these happier days. We love the callback and parallelism, but at what emotional cost!?

Leia Fixes the Jabiim Hanger Door

Somebody has to save the Rebels’ skins — and it’s going to be Leia Organa every time! Despite her youth, Leia knows her way around an electrical system. She’s smart?and?sassy, after all. The 10-year-old princess crawls into the vents on Jabiim? to unstick an impossibly stuck hangar door. The girl is seriously the Rebels’ only hope as the Empire draws closer. Of course, alongside her trusty droid Lola?, Leia is able to fix the issue within Obi-Wan’s time limit.

Vader Stops a Rebel Ship

Darth Vader is seriously strong with the Force. We know this. Yet whenever we see it in action, there’s a certain “wow” factor that can’t be beat. Thus when his raw power is on display during the siege of Jabiim, it’s surely a sight to behold.

Marching into the ship hangar, Darth Vader simply lifts his hand and stops a ship mid-takeoff. Its engines are ablaze, but Vader stands his ground and pulls it back, then rips it to pieces with seemingly little to no effort. If there was any question before about who is the most fearsome Sith Lord? in the galaxy, this moment confirms that it is very much Darth Vader.

Obi-Wan Says "Hello There"

It had to happen. Fans were waiting for it to happen. From the pilot onwards, every time Obi-Wan met a new being, we expected this iconic phrase drop. Of course, writers saved the best for last. Obi-Wan Kenobi finally receives permission from Owen to meet Luke. The young hero looks up with a smile. And Obi-Wan grins back before greeting “Hello there.” We hope this dialogue made you as happy as it did us.
