Best Low-Maintenance Motorcycles For Salaried People

Best Low-Maintenance Motorcycles For Salaried People

Motorcycles are indeed fun to ride. However, most people see them as a low-budget commuter for office-to-home use and a better alternative to public transport or ride-hailing services.?

If you’re thinking of buying your 1st motorcycle and want a low-cost running motorcycle, this listicle might be for you. Here are the best low-maintenance motorcycles for low-salary people.

Honda CD70

The CD70 is a national bike of Pakistan; whether you’re a student, white collar professional, or just need an alternative transport for small tasks, the CD70 is the people’s 1st choice.

The reason is simple: CD70 is a very straightforwardly built motorcycle with not-so-hi-tech engineering. Just a simple frame, a fuel tank, an engine, and a seat on it, it’s that easy. The more less parts, the more dependable the machine will be and hence better reliability.?

It doesn’t end here; a tiny little 72cc engine gives you an economy of 55 Km/l. Besides stickers and graphics, the CD70 hasn’t seen any upgrades since 1985. Due to the same design and mass production, parts are very cheap, like dirt cheap.?

Honda CG125

People see the CG125 as a luxury motorcycle, but in fact, its maintenance cost is almost the same as that of the CD70, just a little higher than it. Since 1982, Honda hasn’t upgraded this iconic machine. It’s the same as it was in 1982, with the same engine, design, engineering, mechanics, and chassis.?

Due to the old OHV engine, it’s not that efficient, hardly giving 41 Km/l, while other competitors like YBR and GSX that use the same 125cc OHC engine offer 50-53 Km/l of the economy. But spare parts of CG are also dirt cheap if you buy them from a 3rd party like Crown and Grippon. The original parts from Atlas Honda 3s dealership are, however, costly.

Just put a Havoline 20w-40 in it and change it after every 800 Km, and the engine will never give up. If tuned on time, you pour the original engine oil in it and change it at the exact time, and the engine will last at least? 50,000 Km.?

If you can spend some money, try to use a Kixx 20w-50 or ZIC 10w-40 Fully Synthetic engine. The engine will not go anywhere until 80,000 km.

Chinese 70cc Motorcycle?

If you can’t afford a new CD70 or CG125, we recommend you go with a used option, but at least buy a Honda. Still, if you’re obsessed with a 0-meter motorcycle and your budget is low, the Chinese local 70cc is your only hope.?

These Chinese motorcycles are cheap and complete counterfeits of CD70s; you can even swap CD70 parts into them. But it’s an all-show no-go. These local 70ccs are so poorly built that you end up paying 4,000-6,000 every month for their breakdown malfunction repair.

Sometimes, there is a short circuit in their wiring, the chain-sprocket wears down after a few thousand Km, electronic parts stop working, or the rim runs out. Also, when you go into the used market, they depreciate at least 40% in just a year.?

Therefore, it looks cheap, but owning these counterfeit 70ccs is so expensive; they are just too poorly built. It is better to avoid them and get a used Honda CD or CG. They are only good if you want a brand-new motorcycle.

Honda Pridor

The Pridor’s fuel average is good, and it is very comfortable to ride. It is perhaps the cheapest, most comfortable-to-ride brand-new bike you can get. However, there is one issue: the ring-piston and clutch. That’s the manufacturing defect of this motorcycle in some units.

Otherwise, if you’re lucky enough to get an ok unit, then it’s a good option. The engine is a small 100cc, just enough for city riding long routes; you can do it on it, but it is not recommended for long routes.?
