Which Players are Powering ADAS Systems for Different Automotive OEMs?
Augustin Friedel ?? ?? ?? ?? highlights the shifting ADAS landscape, with OEMs moving from Level 4 autonomy to more feasible L2+ and L3 systems. ADAS is now a key revenue driver, with offerings like Tesla FSD and Mercedes Drive Pilot contributing to profitability while full autonomy remains distant.
The industry is seeing diverse supplier strategies, with some OEMs relying on Tier 1 suppliers like Bosch and Horizon Robotics, while others develop in-house solutions for efficiency and cost control. China is pushing vertical integration, with XPENG and NIO designing proprietary ADAS chips, reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
Supply chain challenges persist, including Tesla’s HW4 hurdles, NVIDIA Drive Thor delays, and Huawei MDC 810 shortages. Meanwhile, domestic chip production in China is accelerating, aiming for 20-25% local sourcing by 2025 in response to U.S. export controls.
With dynamic SoC strategies, technological advancements, and evolving supplier models, ADAS continues to reshape the future of automotive innovation.
