August Wine of the Month
If a Martian landed in your backyard and demanded to know "what is Bordeaux" you could just hand them this. They would immediately have all the information they'd need and perhaps it could even help you avoid being enslaved in their mining colonies.?
This wine absolutely filled the room with classic scents of Bordeaux - dark fruit, cedar, herbs, and that ineffable "old French cellar" smell. Rich and complex. The palate showed plenty of fruit (after 25 years!), great acidity, and refined, smooth tannins. We don't drink a ton of Bordeaux at Hansen Reynolds but this was fantastic.??
Served it with steak sandwiches topped with caramelized onions, Camembert cheese and a sauce. The pairing was great. It was obviously a decadent sandwich and this wine just sliced through the richness and elevated the food.?
A blend of roughly 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, this was classified as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 classification system. Let us know if you want more info on that whole situation, but suffice to say it's a serious wine.
