Best Gadgets I Tested in 2024 #3: vivo X200 Pro
The camera is one of the top priorities for me in a smartphone. Over the years, I have loved Samsung S-series flagships for still photography and iPhones for videography. But that ‘kind of’ changed this year when I tested the Vivo X200 Pro. I barely had the device for four days, but that was enough to impress me with its capabilities. And in the best gadgets I tested in 2024, this one takes the third spot.
The X200 Pro brings a significant leap in smartphone photography thanks to cutting-edge hardware, intelligent software with AI and computational photography, V3+ chip, and the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC that can handle all the processing without a hiccup. I was particularly impressed with its low-light photography, especially with zoom shots – that are vibrant and crisp, all thanks to the 200MP telephoto lens. 70% of the photos I shot were with the zoom lens and in low light.

This one’s from the Hong Kong Disneyland Lion King live-performance show, with low-light photos going from ultrawide (15mm) to wide (23mm), to 2x (46mm), 3.7x optical (85mm) to 10x hybrid (230mm).

Next are some daylight shots with punchy colours (as I was shooting with vivid mode), and wide dynamic range.

And lastly, one with AI eraser, showing how well the AI works in removing photobombers from the photos.
But beyond photos, the video quality has impressed me too. I don’t have a lot of video samples to show as of now, but whatever I tested in a short span of time, I was definitely impressed. ??
