The photo I have displayed, was clicked in one of the gardens in Pune, just very casually.
But as I looked back at the picture and the books in it, it took me back reminding me of my childhood and the journey that has unfolded over the years -
I started reading books like Champak ,Chandramana, Tin Tin ,Panchatantra, just a few of the names which I read, in fact all of these books slowly became an integral part of my life. In those days I am sure, they were for most of us.
What transpired through this was, I slowly began to like reading ?and started reading with fun and interest, that also helped me improve my?concentration, though I believed in finishing them fast and taking on the next one, to read another interesting story.
As years rolled over, I got interested in reading books authored by Fredrick Forsyth, Sidney Sheldon, Ayn Rand, Agatha Christie etc., my tastes had changed from basic story books to the ones oriented with - suspense, thriller and more adventure, but the change in me was to give attention to the language and try and improve myself little by little.
As I grew and completed my graduation I started liking to?read The Economic times, Business Today, Business world which gave me a lot of insights of corporate world and inspiration. As I moved into the ?corporate life my taste further changed, I tried to?read those management books which could help me to learn more on my work front and bring in self improvement.
Years rolled and my passion for reading has not changed, the only thing which ?has changed now is how I read the books, I give more attention to content and the quality of the writing, so that I feel satisfied I have learnt something new, even if it takes me time to read, besides this I try to read across varied topics- from history, mythology, management to spirituality, astronomy etc.
In my small journey of reading over the years, I feel like asking ?some questions to myself :
1. What?has been my purpose behind reading ? Is it just a hobby or something more ?
2. Have I really improved my personality via reading books over the years?
3. Have I been really attentive to what I read?
4. Do I remember the lessons I get from various books I read and do I use it for self -improvement.
5. How do I store my books and do I encourage the next generation to cultivate this habit ?
6. What makes me still buy and read physical copies, rather than reading on a digital mode ?
Friends, it will be interesting to know if you like reading too and what have been your experiences in your journey of reading.
Happy Reading !!
Regards
?Sushil
