I’ve got to share about our best friends, Alan and Lisa Purdie, a couple who excel in turning the ordinary into extraordinary. You might recall the blog on Taco, their cat as he rose from the dead which was funny and extraordinary.
This story begins with a dinner invitation from friends to celebrate the holiday season. Picture this — it’s a dull winter’s evening, and it was as if the cold weather was holding our dinner conversations hostage. Then, as if someone had switched on the sun, in walked the Purdies. With laughter echoing around them like a melody, their effervescent energy turned the pleasant dinner into a vibrant party. Suddenly the room was ablaze with warmth, laughter, and camaraderie, all courtesy of these two remarkable individuals.
You know, it’s not just their zest for life that I admire, but their hearts of gold. For instance, they are always answering the call to share their wonderful musical talents with friends and family. Whether it’s a funeral. birthday or wedding, Lisa and Alan are always helping others as they sing and entertain at many events. They have blessed us by singing at our daughter’s wedding, played for Happy’s 80th birthday party, hosted parties and so many times turned a boring dinner party into a joyous festival. They simply use their God-given talents to care for and bless others.
To say that their presence is like a breath of fresh air would be an understatement. It’s more like a gust of joy — a whirlwind of cheer. And it’s not just their unwavering positivity, it’s how they inspire everyone around them to be the best they can be.
They make you want to be a better friend, a better spouse and a better human being. When you are with them, you feel like you are the most important person in the room. They always focus the conversation on you. You feel a true authentic connection as they show a genuine interest in what is going on in your life. And that, my dear readers, is the magic of Alan and Lisa Purdie. They don’t just brighten up a room, they light up people’s lives.
Their story isn’t one of grand milestones or headline-grabbing achievements, yet, it’s a story of choosing significance and one where we can all learn a thing or two.
Did I mention Alan is one of Mom’s favorites?
Yes, Mom, I had lunch with Alan, and he said to be sure to tell you both Hi. He also asked how you and Pop Joe were doing. Yes, I told him you said Hi and not to do anything you wouldn’t do. You know what, Mom? If there were more people like them, I reckon the world would be a better place.
Here’s to the Purdies, the stars of this week’s blog, making our world a better place, one act of kindness at a time.
