The best form of exercise post-baby

The postpartum period is difficult for mothers. After all, childbirth is hard work for the body.

Our body gets exhausted, and we don't get to rest too often. As a new mother, our baby becomes the priority. Besides, we also go through many physical changes: Belly, breast, face and metabolism change abruptly.

But keep in mind- these changes are normal, these are the signs of a miracle you have created. And you don't have to rush to change anything right away.

Enjoy your new role as a mother, embrace it and find some time to take care of yourself too!

To slowly recover from postpartum, The best advice I can give you is to start walking.

This is also a good way to ease into more intense exercise as your body recovers from childbirth.

Walks are in general also good for health, but following?are the major benefits of walking during your Postpartum:

1. Helps redistribute the fluid in your legs

During pregnancy, your body produces extra fluids to support the fetus and this causes swelling in the legs, ankles, and feet. And these extra fluids get eliminated from your body after childbirth. However, this process is slow and takes a lot of time.

Walking helps in redistributing the fluid in your legs. Walk improves circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system, which helps to eliminate excess fluid and reduces swelling in the legs.

2. Burn calories

Walking at a moderate pace for around 20-30 minutes can burn up to 150 calories. Which is a very good number for you. Would recommend to begin with 10-15 minutes and slowly increase the time to 30 mins. Walking provides an opportunity to go out and enjoy some fresh air and will also help in increasing your metabolism.

3. Strengthen your muscles and Joints

Walking helps you to have a moderate-intensity workout for the muscles without putting too much pressure on your joints. This low-impact walk can also strengthen the muscles in the legs, hips, and lower back, which are all important for postpartum recovery.

4. Improves Blood circulation

During pregnancy, your body undergoes many changes, and an increase in blood volume is one of them.

After giving birth, you body needs to be adjusted to its pre-pregnancy state, and walking can aid in this process by improving your blood circulation

5. Outdoor walks are even better for that Vit D that can help with Baby blues

You can try going for outdoor walks. This is where you get the opportunity to be in nature, and soak up some natural sunlight, which is a rich source of vitamin D. And vitamin D plays a crucial role in regulating mood and alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety as well as with your baby blues too.

I would like to emphasize again, you don’t have to rush. You can take it slowly. As slowly as you want. Listen to your body.

Note - If you had a complex delivery, you need to consult with your doctor before going for a daily walk. They might ask you to not go for it until you are fully recovered.

Overall, Walking during postpartum is completely safe and healthy for your physical and mental well-being. Especially after giving birth to your little one!

So put on some comfortable clothes and shoes, and take a gentle walk today!
