You don’t want your pants to be too long otherwise you’ll end up tripping over them. A lot of yoga movements, such as in the Sun Salutation when you jump into Forward Bend after you’ve Downward Dog. So, make sure that your pants come just above your ankle if you’ve loose-fitting pants. If you choose leggings, either go for ankle-length or knee-length.
Choose The Right Fabric
One of the main reasons why people choose to do yoga is to improve their flexibility. This means that any tight-fitting clothing will restrict your movements – which counterproductive in the class.
For Vinyasa or Hatha Yoga, it’s recommended that you go for a pair of pants that is in a cotton fabric. This is because it is natural and comfortable. They also say that elastane or cotton blends are good options to go for.
For Hot Yoga, rather go for a synthetic blend pair of pants. Because you’ll be sweating a lot, you’ll want pants that dry faster and that breathe easily.
Express Yourself!
There’s no reason why yoga pants need to be in neutral colours or black. If you’re a fan of bold colours and prints, why not get a pain that expresses who you are and what you like! But remember to shop around. Yoga pants can range from the very expensive to the cheap and cheerful so make sure that you don’t get something that is insanely expensive but, at the same time, don’t get a pair that falls apart the first time you wash it.
A great pair of well-fitting yoga pants is nothing without a great top to go with it. If you’re small-busted, you may want to go with a sleeveless top (this is especially for?Hot Yoga, as this kind of top will be cooler).
For big-busted women, we suggest going for a short-sleeved top because as yoga forces you to put your body into many different positions, with a sleeveless top, you may find yourself with a wardrobe malfunction.
In terms of length, make sure that the top comes to just below your tip bone as this looks more elegant than a shorter one so that if you need to, you can always pop out to coffee with the girls after class!
