Top 5 Best Crown Stapler For Underlayment
1.Milwaukee 2447-20 M12 3/8a€ Crown Stapler
Purchased mostly for my wife to staple landscape fabric for the raised bed. I have a pneumatic stapler/nailer but cordless is more convenient in this type of application. Depth adjustment is great but does take a few staples to get the depth needed based on material and not too deep to go through fabric. I also like that this has a bump fire option. Based on my application, doesn’t really need to be all “that” neat as most of them will be covered by dirt.
The 12v battery does seat very tight and some people may have difficulty removing as it does take a bit a strength to squeeze to pull out battery. I would never recommend “slamming” the battery home on any tool as it may bend the male pin and then you’ve got something to fix, if it didn’t break.
I like the alignment function and it will not fire a staple until depressed. Where you have it aligned is where the staple will go. So, this will make fastening low voltage wiring pretty seamless and easy. Keep in mind that this will only take 3/8” wide crown (t150) staples. You are limited on how long the staples can be as well. I believe the ones I used are 3/8” long as well (not sure though). It did make quick work this my current project, especially with the bump fire option. Even at a bare tool price of over $100, it will last for many years. I used a 1.5AH battery, on a 4’x8’ raised bed and used a 50’ roll of fabric. Likely used little over 75 staples and didn’t lose full state of charge at all. Have to say this would last over 1000 staples before battery change.
I would recommend this stapler as part of your cordless tool arsenal based on convenience and performance.
2.ROBERTS 10-600 3/16" Crown, 120V, 15-Amp, 20 Gauge Electric Stapler
After reading the reviews, I bought this, as my electric upholstery stapler had just given up the ghost, and I have a couple of big jobs this week. Ordered on Friday, showed up two hours ago on Sunday evening. Gotta love prime. Decided on this based on reviews and Prime shipping, as the other brand I normally use isn't on Amazon and it won't show up until Thursday or Friday. Nice blow molded case, gun felt good in hand and seemed to be solidly built. Much to my extreme disappointment, the Roberts stapler failed on the VERY FIRST TRIGGER pull. Seriously. Took it out of the box, loaded it, plugged it in, and pulled the trigger. It fired, and something broke internally, because the anvil won't retract/reset. NOTHING in the instructions about what to do if that happens, so I figured it meant it was dead. I'm not taking a brand new gun apart to see what happened. Boxed it right back up, filed a return, and dropped it off at Kohl's Amazon return less than two hours after it was delivered. Fluke? Maybe. Buyer beware is all I can say.

5.Arrow PT50 Oil-Free Pneumatic Staple Gun
Was tasked to re-screen the patio, using only an electric staple gun. This was not cutting the mustard. This tool was an awesome find and priced below what I expected to pay. Worked great straight out of the box (after oiling). The add lists as oil free (or something like that). If you're new to air tools: unless you have an "oiler" connected to your compressor, oil this tool just like any other pneumatic tool. You will find this info in the manual. Slap to the hand Arrow, I found the add info a little misleading. I digress... 5-Star, great buy! Manual suggests running at 60-100PSI, my compressor wouldn't hang at 100 and after dropping the PSI down to around 90, I was concerned there wouldn't be sufficient pressure(stapling to many times painted PT lumber). This was not the case, I have only run about 2k staples though the tool but no jams, tweaked staples or failures. Compared to other brand named nail and brad guns I own, this tool looks to be built as well and performance wise, is as much fun to use.
Best Crown Stapler for Underlayment: A Comprehensive Buying Guide
When installing underlayment, whether for flooring or roofing, a crown stapler is an essential tool that helps secure the material firmly in place. Crown staplers are designed to handle larger staples, often with a wider crown, making them ideal for fastening thicker materials like underlayment. However, choosing the best crown stapler for this job requires consideration of several factors, from type and power to ease of use and durability. This guide will help you make an informed decision when purchasing a crown stapler for underlayment installation.

Conclusion
Selecting the best crown stapler for underlayment depends on your needs, project scale, and personal preferences. If you’re tackling larger, professional-grade jobs, a pneumatic stapler like the Bostitch SX1838K or Senco SFT10XP is a solid choice due to their durability and power. For DIY projects, a cordless model such as the DeWalt DCN701D1 may provide the convenience and portability needed. Manual staplers like the Stanley TR250 can work well for occasional use but are less efficient for larger tasks. Consider your budget, the complexity of your job, and whether or not you already have an air compressor or need a cordless option.
