Is "Best"? Content Boring?

Is "Best" Content Boring?

“There is nothing like attention span! There is only boring content!!”

These words struck me from the Speaker/Trainer at one of the LinkedIn Course I was going through.

“How come there is binge watching of webisodes of series” The speaker went on saying! So true, my son watches Shark Tanks back-to-back for hours!

A lot has changed through the journey of building contents over three decades! The word SEO was not known and “Content writer” profession was unheard of. We were writing Training Manuals & delivering content in our own style.

Remembering those days when only blackboard & chalk were enough to conduct Training session! Spare the coughing due to chalk dust!

Discovery (or invention?) of White Board & Markers was thought to be a revolution. It has stood for the longest time in the era of projectors. Scores of Training manuals were churned on!

And yes, generation of Projectors…OHP, Slide Projectors & of course long live LCD Projectors! I have met a generation who has never seen slide projectors. Creating contents & presenting through slide projector had a magic & charm of those times.

There was an era when LCD lamps exhausted life due to overuse…what must have happened to those lamps in Lockdown?

This was the era of “Death by PowerPoint”!! The content creators like us used all creativity & freedom with animations to make that contents “interesting” or so we thought. Still, we had not called ourselves ‘Content Writer’

This digital Tsunami of presenting ‘information’ or contents has exploded on social now. We are bombarded (literally) with so much content everyday that it reminds what Andy Crestodina said

“It’s not the best content that wins. It’s the best promoted content that wins.!

Is “Best” content boring? What’s your say on this??

Smita Kulkarni We agree with Andy Crestodina's saying - The best promoted content wins - regardless of how "Best" your content is, if it doesn't catch the viewers eye there's no value to it.

Food for thought Smita Kulkarni . There is a lot of content so ensuring people stop and pay attention is critical.
