Best of both worlds

Best of both worlds

Although we live in very uncertain times, I would argue that we also live in a very fortunate time too. Glass half full and all that...

Digital communications seems to be taking over everything we do. The employee app is becoming a regular feature in our arsenal of channels. Alongside this, the printed magazine seems to be morphing into an e-zine and face-to-face is quickly becoming face-to-screen.

For me though, new is not always better and more importantly, we all need to consider what will work best for our audiences. My simple formula below seeks to tackle this misnomer head on...

O+O = O
Online + Offline = Oneline

In short, you don't have to compromise from traditional and effective channels and it is possible to easily integrate and enhance what you already have with some of the new methods on the market. Wherever possible though, try and connect all of your channels together and treat them as one.

With IC channels you really can get the best of both worlds and best of all, your audience will thank you for it.

Please do take the time to share your comments on my latest installment of 'IC idioms' as I do read them all.

I totally agree. We're always under pressure to come up with a new digital way to communicate with people but, in many cases, "old" channels work well and often not all the workforce will have access to newer digital channels. In this case message consistency and channel mix are much more important than all the whizzy bangs and whistles!

Wholeheartedly agree. Linking all channels together with consistent messaging is key. Like the simple formula too. Easy for non-mathematicians like me to understand!
