Best Affordable Burr Grinder

Best Affordable Burr Grinder

Let’s start by looking at the grinding result. If we look at the size distribution of the coffee particles of our test grinders, we immediately notice the large gap of the grinder of the German manufacturer in homogeneity. It even beats our Mahlk?nig Guatemala, a professional electric coffee grinder in this discipline, which we included as a reference value. Its peak is clearly above all others, it almost plays in a league of its own. In addition, it is the only grinder besides the Guatemala that hardly produces any fine dust and also hardly any coarser coffee particles. Especially with medium to coarser grinds, hand coffee grinders usually have problems achieving a consistent grinding result. If the grinder is not really tightly seated, larger pieces will continuously enter the grind container without sufficient grinding.

This grinder can also be very interesting for espresso drinkers, as the typical second peak of the curve is also present in the Comandante. The proportion of ?fines“, which prevents the rapid flow during espresso preparation and ensures the characteristic taste and crema, is very pronounced here.

This coffee grinder worked great for 2 years and 9 months of running 10 cups at medium grind at least twice a week.My husband prefers to grind his coffee by hand the old fashioned way, but I drink iced coffee by the pitcher and needed a faster and easier way to have fresh ground beans in a larger capacity. I use paper filters and the pour-over method to brew and there would be some extra fine grounds in the pitcher, but they weren't excessive and didn't bother me.I bought this grinder after reading other reviews that said it was great for the price, and especially compared to other more expensive models, but that it sometimes had a short lifespan. Reviews at the time suggested to keep the chute clean for the longest life of the motor. So I diligently cleaned the chute of fine packed grounds every time I refilled the hopper and it seemed to help keep things flowing. I'd even flip it over and tap it like I was burping a baby to get the chunks out.

2.KRUPS Burr Grinder

Recently, we were gifted an espresso machine for Christmas. We have always been particular about coffee but I did not grind our own beans. An espresso machine needs a finer ground so I decided on this grinder. I chose a burr grinder because I think it produces a better grind and releases more oil from the bean. It also does not seem to heat the grounds.I chose this particular grinder because it had decent reviews and from what I can tell, they are well deserved. It is a solid grinder that is easily adjustable and fairly easy to clean. The coffee beans are poured in the back section, on the side you can choose how fine the grind is. On the front you can choose the amount that is ground. I usually make 2 double shot lattes in the morning so set it to 4 and it dispenses enough to make both cups with very little waste. It is loud. It is a grinder, it is going to be loud, but it is a touch quieter than others I have used, so while it is not quiet, it certainly is one of the quieter ones.As far as cleaning it, it is pretty easy. The dispensing cup can be hand washed and put back after use. You can also pull out the upper part of the grinder an use the brush that comes with it to brush out excess coffee bean pieces before you wipe the container out. The little brush easily stores away. Thus far, after a month of daily use, I have not had any trouble with it binding up or failing.Overall, I would recommend this burr grinder. It produces a consistent grind every time and is very adjustable. It is not difficult to clean and while it is not small it is compact enough to store on the counter. The bonus, the smell of fresh ground coffee is such a lovely smell.

3.CUISINART Coffee Grinder

This is the first mill we've used. It provides a much better grind and control than the blender styles which are inconsistent and break down much quicker. Love that I don't have to measure out beans every time. I just keep the hopper filled and it produces the exact amount and courseness I want every time. I also love that I don't have to hold a button down during the whole grind. I keep the selector at the max number of cups (18). I grind more than I need and the grounds are available when I want. With two grindings, the catch container has about 2.5x what I use for each pot.Two drawbacks-1) Do NOT use if anyone in the house is trying to sleep! This mill produces a loud, high pitch noise reminiscent of the world's largest dental drill digging out a hippo's cavity! If you're an early riser like me, I recommend doing your grinding the night before, thus preventing the locals from chasing you down the street with pitchforks and shovels.2) There is no OFF switch. If, for some reason, you want to stop the mill before the grind is finished, you have to unplug it from the wall while it is running. Let's say the noise has torn a hole into another dimension in your kitchen and a Kraken HellDemon is coming thru for coffee. An off switch would be very helpful!Luckily, this only happened to me twice and as soon as I pulled the plug, the HellDemon realized he wasn't getting coffee and turned back, healing the tear once he was gone. Both are a small price to pay for a better grind than the blender style grinders. The quality and efficiency of the mill still merits 5 stars.

4.Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

The anti-static feature is spectacular! I have had regular grinders and always hated the mess, then I started to see the anti-static grinders, so I had to get one. This unit is very nice. It's quiet, and does a real nice job. Depending on the grind that you set, it will grind very quickly, or you will need to do multiple batches, depending on the amount of coffee you want. If you choose a coarse grind, it will grind very quickly. If you choose a very fine grind, you may need to do two or three rounds of grinding to get the coffee you need. None of these grinders are really super easy to clean, but this unit cleans up about as easily as I imagine possible. One thing that is wonderful is that the coffee bean hopper actually has a couple of little "doors" that swing into place at the bottom of the hopper so you don't have to empty it out before you remove the hopper. Just twist the hopper to unlock it, and these little doors swing into place and keep the beans from falling out the bottom when you remove it. Brilliant! Then there's just a few beans left down in the grind chamber that you need to empty out before you can clean it up further. This grinder is replacing a different anti-static conical burr grinder that I had trouble with. Oilier beans would clog it up and it would not produce the grounds it should have. I have been using the exact same beans on this grinder and have not had any problems at all. The only slight concern is, as I mentioned earlier, a very fine grind setting will require potentially, more grinding to accumulate the quantity of grounds that you want. That seems to be the case with any grinder of this type, so I wouldn't really call it a problem unique to this grinder. Definitely a five-star product.

5.Kaffe Electric Burr Coffee Grinder

I think I just got a one off unit that had a bad switch in it. That type of thing happens. I reached out to the seller and they made it right very quickly. This seller is great to work with, I would have no concerns that any issues you have will be resolved quickly. Buy with confidence.I did a lot of looking for a grinder and this is the one I settled on because of the removable cup. I used it a total of three times and it stopped working. As usual, it happened just after my return window. It sounds like the switch went bad inside because it doesn't "click" anymore when depressing the lid to start the grinder. I think I just got a bad unit and hope that Kaffe makes it right.
