Best Advice: Your Struggles Will Become Part of Your Past
"You have to accept whatever comes, and the only important thing is that you meet it with the best you have to give." Eleanor Roosevelt. Every day millions and millions of people in the world struggle with something. Struggles are part of life and no one can escape them. Some struggles appear suddenly and other struggles develop gradually; some last longer and some last less. There are things you can control and things that you cannot control.
Struggles can be losses in your personal and professional life - whether material, physical, or emotional losses. All of your struggles matter and affect you in different ways. For every struggle, there is a need. With the more struggles, the more needs. Generally, when you are struggling with serious things in life, you tend to feel that you are the only one facing such situation. Take heart, you are bigger than your struggles. Your struggles can be overcome and become part of your past.
The attitude you take while facing struggles matters a lot and it can make a huge difference in your life for good or not so good, it all depends on you. It is very easy to fall into a stressful mode or negative state of mind during times of struggle. It is okay to feel that way temporarily, not for very long periods of time. You will find that it is encouraging to know that your struggles are easier to cope with when you have a good attitude. Having a good attitude is not about minimizing the size and the effects of your struggles, it is about focusing on the end result, not on your current circumstances.
Things To Consider While Facing Struggles
Do acknowledge your struggles: Recognize the struggles that you are facing, resist the urge to ignore them. This is healthy for your mind and body.
Do reach out to supportive people: Share your struggles with caring and kind people in your life. Do not let pride or the fear of rejection get in the way.
Do take care of yourself: Get a massage, go for a walk, rest, and get enough sleep. Do not allow your struggles to take over you. Do what is within your means.
Avoid isolating yourself: Spending too much time alone can give room to start feeling negative and depressed. Surround yourself with people who will lift you up.
Avoid comparing to others: Every person's struggles are different. Know that there is always someone facing similar struggles and major struggles than you.
Avoid complaining: Talking about your struggles is different than complaining. Complaining implies negativity, you focus on the struggles and not on the results.
Struggles have a way to shape your character to become a stronger person if you decide so. Every struggle has something to teach you - learn from it, do not waste the lesson for it can bring great things out of you: a renewed mind, compassion, kindness, a more courageous attitude, higher appreciation about what you posses, and a more positive and healthier perspective about life.
After you overcome your struggles, you can reflect on each of them and see how easily you may take things for granted at times. Struggles can be reminders that life is worth fighting for. "I have never met a person with an easy past." Unknown.

9 年I really enjoyed reading this article. My life struggles have stemmed from an accident and failed surgeries that have made my situation worse. The biggest issue I have, is not being able to do the things I want to do, but not being able to do the things that need to be done. When I feel like life cant get any worse I remind myself that there is always someone out there that has a worse situation. I am still living with this struggle BUT the positive is that over the past 5 years it has taught me a lot of patience and given me appreciation for the little things in life. I look forward to reading more of your posts. thanks!
It was so hard for me to reach out to my support network, since I deemed it a failure to ask people for help and compassion, but now, I realize that human life is about social systems. You don't have to know everything... and that's ok. Thanks, Ivette.
Surely life is worth fighting for... Thanks for sharing :)

9 年Ivette, I try to remind myself that any struggle is temporary. I also try to reflect how I got into the position where I am struggling, forgive myself if it was because of my own buffoonery, and realize I will be better at the end of it. Tomorrow will present the opportunity for rebound...seize it!
