Berth design and EIA are successfully approved by public hearing in Pevek

Design of berth for installation of float nuclear generation units and Environmental Impact Assessment Report were discussed during public discussion at Pevek.

The local population was notified in various ways about the holding of public hearings, the opportunity was given to familiarize themselves with the developed documentation and materials before the hearings, it was also possible to ask questions by e-mail or in person during the hearings.

On May 27, 2022, interested parties, including local residents, government representatives, and developers of the berth project gathered in the building of the Administration of the Pevek city District.

During the procedure, issues of municipal waste management at the stage of construction and operation of the berth, the issue of handling generated nuclear waste, the impact of new facilities on marine flora and fauna, migratory birds, the activities of indigenous and small populations in Chaunskaya Bay, whether juvenile fish will be released to compensate for the impact during the construction of the berth, where the maintenance staff will live, where the stone will be taken from for the needs of construction.

Detailed answers were provided to all the questions asked.

As a result of the hearings, it was found that there were no negative positions and negative perceptions of the planned activities, there were no disagreements between the company and the customers of the project documentation.

Public hearings on the facility "Infrastructure for the placement of floating power units" were recognized as having taken place.
